Depending on one's view of time dimensions, one could say that the cake did not cease to exist, but rather, that it exists along a continuum along one or more dimensions of time. Therefore, it would be more accurate to say the cake will have always existed. One could also say that the cake's existence persists and one does not know if one can get off of this couch. Therefore, it is not only possible to have one's cake and eat it, too, it is inevitable. I think I'll just lie down for a while and groan.
