Is that film in Spanish? (I tend to fall asleep when reading subtitles). I do like Basil Rathbone in all the Sherlock Holmes series......imo, he was fantastic.

Muskets didn't sit well for Alexander Dumas in having swashbuckling hero's in his books?
(Bang you're dead.....end of story?)

It's in Spanish, but right now it appears to be hard to find ... specially as Spain uses the different standard for CD's ... I'll buy it in Spanish, I don't care ... it's that good of a film.

Part of the story involves "different styles" of fencing (Spanish, Italian and Portuguese) and some details that are insane ... you never thought there was more to it, did you? if worse comes to worse, pick up the novel ... it's very good.

The main advantage of Foreign Film Festivals, is the stuff that no one knows or will EVER see. And there are some unreal bits and pieces in there, that few get to see, because everyone (here in Portland) goes for the English and American films, and the French films ... the rest get dumped and ignored.

Subtitles are not hard ... once you get used to it ... by the 5th or 6th film you learn to listen to the tone of the voice, and you can almost adjust what is being said, specially with really good actors. But Hollywood, obviously does not think that Europe has good actors ... not enough action!

I say the same thing about music! But folks are so tuned to the "same thing" (as I call it) that it is hard to say anything without anyone getting upset ... all I have to show you is where the lines are at the Portland FF! Or how many people went to see a foreign artist here at the Schnitzler Hall ... hint ... less than a third of the place! Come to think of it, it's about the same percentage here!

Thanks Pedro.....I'll try to add that to my ever-so-growing watch list. I actually do like foreign films as they have more 'substance' than the graphic drenched modern movies in the US......it's just that I'm usually tired at night after a long day at work and reading these subtitles tend to lull me into sleep. :))

A film like this will wake you up ... because you wonder what next and the costumes ... wow!
