Ken,

You're gonna want the Progressive SDX. And probably The Metal Foundry SDX (don't be fooled by the word "metal", it's a great all around kit).

As MeshodMan points out Superior is for sculpting, unlike EZD2 which mostly used for the processed presets.

SD2, definitely will give you complete control for detailing the sound you want.....you'll definitely will have fun with toms. Whenever SD3 ever comes out, you'll have a good upgrade path as well.
