Hi John.
Thank you for your solution with VS-700.
Actually you can do it on a fresh installation of Win 10.
I have now also made it work with VS-700C stand alone, VS-100, UA-700, VS-20.
So guys out there, you can stil use your old Roland gear :-)

I forgot to say , i can try it ,

Hey folks...
my W10 machine updated to "1709 Build 16299.64" Fall Creators Update I think it called itself and standalone is now a no go. Wanted to test out Mixbus with a controller danggit. Had been working fine as part of the 700R setup prior to this.

I've successfully done this before 2 or 3 times and understand the process involved turning off driver signing etc but I have now tried reinstalling the driver many times and tried variations of the .inf file with no success. NTamd64.10 should be fine as Windows fixed there dodgy version numbering so 64.10 is now correct.

Literally hangs at the usual 10min+ install screen after starting up the 700C and after 20+mins I give up because if this is the future of standalone 700C use, I'm handing in my hover boots.

Might try a couple more things but right now, it looks a bit cooked unless someone has had success with the current Windows updates?

Cheers.

OK no wonder it wouldn't work...installation now completed and controller works in standalone mode (but Mixbus still dislikes 700C & 700R)....would help if it was the actual 700C drivers I was trying to install....doh!

Mick,
Just saw this, 3 weeks late ...

From what i remember mixbus only liked the vs700r if you click the buffer OK button at start up of mixbus dialog window.

Vs700c should be recognized as Mackie ctrl unit

But my experience with the combination mixbus/vs700 is limited. Only tried quickly more than a year ago...

**SOLVED**
I'm still having no luck getting the VS700 Console running with Windows 10 1709 update.  After the update device manger no longer recognized the console has having drivers.  I tried uninstalling the drivers and following all the previous steps outlined here but now windows tells me that it cannot find drivers for my device.  I've tried using the installer as well as force installing the drivers through device manager to no avail.  Any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

This is the version of the console drivers I'm using,  I have edited the Manufacture section. It was sourced from this Roland page.

EDIT
I pasted the manufacturer section posted by Mully instead of the one in the first post.  This made it work.

HOw long does it take to install after you do the download? I have a new i78700k with win 10 pro.  I went to the link and downloaded the freestanding driver.  It has been ten minutes and it still says ready to install the driver.... yes, I disconnected the USB cable, then rehooked it up and turned the console back on....

Is the vs-700 totally useless now, or does someone have a great recipe? Just had a Windows update, and everything was lost. Tried to do it the same way as the first post in this thread , but no way. Would not install!

Anyone?

It's such a pitiful waste that Roland hasn't bothered to release a Win 10 driver for this still wonderful set of hardware (the VS-700).  It's baffling and tremendously frustrating.  I had intended to continue on with Windows 7 Pro for a while, but I have other hardware that's moving past it.  I'm stuck in limbo.  Hacking old drivers to work in a new operating system can't work forever.  And I can't stay with Windows 7 (I just installed 10 today, in fact).  So I'm left with no choice but to ditch this perfectly great piece of hardware and buy something new, all because we can't get a simple friggin' driver update.  I wonder if I'll even be able to give it away at this point.  What a tremendous shame.

I have been a huge Roland fan for a long time, but this is severely straining that relationship.  Ugh.

Well here we are, May 2018, and this trick still works.  Fresh build, fresh Win 10 Pro, VS700 console and rack.  Worked on the first try.

Thanks, and thanks again for keeping this alive.

cheers,
Dave
