Yeah, it's not news that Microsoft usually follow rather than lead in terms of UI design. Myself, I don't care about that. Linux is very clever and all that, but trying to run a recording studio on Linux is an exercise in face-spiting nose-removal that I've no interest in.

LOL, I agree.  Been there, tried that - I've no patience for that anymore.  Sonar is solid and I'm quite happy with it, so I'm happy to get a new OS that is turning out to be one of Microsoft's better releases.

I got the control surface working too, so I'm all good now.  So fear not, if you've a VS-700.   I forgot to define it as the VS-100 instead of just a generic ACT controller...  (oops)

What did you have to do to get the surface working?

Ah, sorry, you've already said. It's late, and I'm sleepy.

VS-700r  here (no control surface) will not work with this W8 driver..I'm not sure I want to mess with the hack. Just need the drivers. Roland has the system set as discontinued so..i hope they fix this.

Hi Dogfall,

Did you try hacking the .ini file from the 8.1 drivers, and disabling signature checking in win 10?  It is fairly simple and I've seen no stability issues on my rig, all evening...

1. where is the RDIF1099.inf located ? do i edit before install or after?
2. explain "disable driver signatures" and how to do this.

Thanks!!

John T and MacktheKnife... thanks for the correspondence on this.  I really like Windows 10.... I'll give the hack a try!

dogfall:  for the 700 we will be needing the rdif1089.inf file ... if you are installing the drivers this file will be in your installation drivers folder..  example \01_vs_700_drivers\vs700_w81d_v202\Files\64bit\Files
If your drivers are already loaded you find them in your windows system folder .... example C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\rdif1089.inf_amd64_f12cd33e4ba5ff80

From what I can gather... the way you disable driver signatures is described in this page (used for Windows 8.1 or 10 I believe):

Okay... I guess I have everything to make myself dangerous... here we go..
