Please return to simpler times. It makes no sense to have two effects slots for each track: usual fx insert area AND pro Channel... It takes space and is redundant. I Sonar commits to pro channel, then make it simple and universal and optimize it. Automation... There again, I played around with Ableton live's automation and everything is so much more straight forward.
Sonar Platinum tried to mimic a Recording Studio as much as possible, with fancy graphics and rackmounted units... But we are past this now. You guys have to decide which side of the fence you want to be. This has been Sonar's problem. Either you are a bad ass composition tool (Ablelton), or a jack of all trades production daw (Pro Tools). If you want to stay on the fence, then you better have an harmonious package.. more harmonious the Sonar Platinum was.

I went on Youtube and looked at old Sonar 8.5 videos... Go check it out. So much cleaner UI with lots of realestate. I remember when you could customise all the widgets in the top view.. It looked great and was functionnal. Please go back to this mindset. Blend in better plugin automation and you got a winner! Less Graphics, more logic

My feature request is to ignore everything zblip2@gmail.com has to say. Cakewalk is near perfect exactly as it is. After using Studio One for a few weeks, there are a few things I would like to incorporate into Cakewalk. In Studio One 3, there are more options for shaping an automation envelope. Tools similar to a bezier tool (I think that's what it's called) in Photoshop and Illustrator. I thought that was great. I also like the idea that someone said of having one MIDI file feed more than one soft synths. The other thing that I like from Studio One was nestable track folders. Only being able to go one layer deep is not ideal.

None of these limitations, however, changes in any way the fact that Sonar/Cakewalk is the best DAW on the planet in my book. The brief time I spent with Studio One only reinforces that.

Also, since Cakewalk by Bandlab doesn't have a pitch correction solution currently, I think it would be a great idea to try to get V-Vocal in Cakewalk again. I'd think you could get the code for a song from Roland. I really like V-Vocal, other than some stability issues. In fact, there are some things about V-Vocal I actually like better than Melodyne (though, if I had to choose only one, I'd have to go with Melodyne).

I would also like to add, please:

- Ability to move multiple tracks at once.  Currently to arrange tracks, you have to have incredible foresight, or incredible patience.

Please please and thank you!

There are a few free pitch correction VST's out there as an alternative e.g. Graillon 2 Free, Melda Production's MAutoPitch, GSnap and KeroVee.

For pitch To MIDI... years ago, Sonar (or maybe it was Cakewalk Pro Audio) used to have a monophonic pitch to MIDI converter... may this could be put back in to CbB as a fallback for those who don't have V-Vocal or Melodyne installed?

Also, I seem to remember on Sonar Platinum, the pitch to midi (dragging from an audio track to a midi track) worked regardless of whether Melodyne was actually registered/activated or not - i.e. it just needed to be installed. In any case Meloydne Essentials doesn't offer pitch to MIDI natively, so there must be something else Sonar was doing. Whether this method works in CbB or not, I don't know.

I decided I would look about for a new daw when Sonar lost support after looking I chose Reaper. Reaper has a very simple way to adjust the tempo of audio files and leave the pitch as it was (or change it if you want). This comes in very useful for say slowing tempo at the end of a song albeit initially recorded (or generated) at a constant tempo.

I found editing audio such as cutting or copying and pasteing far simpler in Reaper. The way crossovers and or merging the items are done is far simpler.

I would keep Reaper just to perform these tasks even though I prefer Cakewalk.

I have been checking out Bandlab.com quite a bit over the last week.  I've got a profile, uploaded some projects and tracks, checked out the community, trying to see what it's all about.  I was very skeptical at first, but now think I see where there is some good potential.  Here's what I'd like to see in terms of integration between Cakewalk and Bandlab:

- Upload to bandlab account directly from CbB by WAV or MP3/etc.  Even better to add metatags, images, description etc in this step also.  I see this as a way to share private mixes with clients, get their feedback, etc, without a going through email, dropbox, etc.

- Inversely, ability to import forkable projects from Bandlab directly into Cakewalk.

- Share CbB projects through the Bandlab platform.  Upload and/or import entire projects for two reasons:  1) to share with clients and collaborators as the current system allows via forking, and  2) Edit projects and mixes remotely (sometimes I do a mix, and later I realize I want to make a small level adjustment. Doing this remotely on my laptop would be fantastic rather than going all the way back to the studio, perhaps export bounced stems, or maybe just save the state of the plugins?)

- Forking mechanism built into Cakewalk that follows the project whether online (bandlab) or offline, perhaps replacing or adding to the Mix Recall feature.  I think having project/mix forks could be helpful tracking project progress.

cheers,
Dave

Here's a quick feature that could be added to a future version of Cakewalk:
A simple latency meter that displays what the current latency value is (in milliseconds)
They do this now in Presonus Studio One (version 3).

Feature improvement: SAME TIME FORMATS

I consider useful that "Selection", "Loop" and "Punch In/Out" displays in the Control Bar should change their time formats as we change the main "Current now time" format. The same would happen with the ruller time format as we change the Track Pane Header time format.
Thanks Cakewalk for asking the users.

I second this. It's a very simple request, but very useful.
