The Mackie MCU + C4 is a good combination, as are any of the Mackie clones.

I personally use an original Mackie MCU + Mackie Extender, with 2 x C4's. This gives me 16 motorised faders + 1 motorised master fader, transport control, loads of function buttons on the MCU.

The two C4's each give me two banks of 32 endless controller knobs (with a display for each knob) for controlling two separate plugins - I default them to Track Compressor and EQ, but I can scroll through all of my plugins and control them with the knobs.

There's loads of others out there, the most prominent being the Presonus FaderPort series, the Behringer X-Touch series and the Icon Q series.

For those on a budget, IMHO you can't beat the Korg NanoKontrol Studio (no motorised faders, but still a dream to use).

Hi Meng,

2 requests;

1. Can the 'Process -> Apply Effect -> Gain' pull down menu also be added as a right-click menu-option.
2. Can the Marker Sections be colour-coded (e.g. verse - blue / bridge - red etc).

Thanks.

Hi Bakers!

Most likely this was asked before...
VST's draining a lot of CPU on muted tracks, until you manually disable them on these muted tracks.
I feel it would be very beneficial to have an option to: Disable VSTs on muted tracks (and enable them when track is un-muted) automatically.

Some VST's (Izotope for example) are very CPU hungry and less than a dozen of muted tracks with VSTs not disabled manually take 25-30%+ of CPU on the top of active load.

Thank you for considering.

Rather than mute them, Archive them  (the button with an "A" in it) - this is exactly what archive was created for.

Mark, yes it is a workaround, but I think global FX on/off for muted tracks would be faster and better in sense that it could be done in one press of the button.

It is only one button press when not counting the clicks to mute. Archive is actually one less click when the mutes are counted (as they should be) because archive automatically bypasses FX eliminating the need for an FX toggle. Archive also disconnects synths, something the FX bypass does not do. Archived audio clips are not read from disk also something FX bypass does not do.

I guess it is a thing with workflow thing. For me to see "A" (archive) and have all the things I need on the track menu it has to be expanded in such way, that it takes about 30% of the screen space. I guess I have to re-learn some bits of workflow.

Hello!

Could you please speed up the performance of the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, especially for people with extremely large amounts of plug-ins? I'll admit to being a plug-in hoarder, but I've also got 32GB of RAM. Shouldn't that help speed up the program?

Thank you!
