See the thread I posted recently regarding my new Studio Cat laptop. I went pretty all out, but you don't need to put everything I had put in mine. I will warn you that they are made for performance, so it's not one of those wimpy 5/8" laptops that weigh as much as a sheet of paper.
This thing is over-engineered if anything and has desktop performance in a portable package. Thicker and heavier than most laptops, but still light enough to put in a big laptop case or backpack and take with you for remote sessions.
Jim from StudioCat frequents this and a few other forums, and is pretty well-known around these parts for the quality of high-performance DAWs he puts out. My last two towers were StudioCat and I finally decided to get a laptop with my most recent, as I'm working on a project with a guy that lives about 150 miles away and it will be easier for me to bring a laptop and a small rack with my interface and a couple more items and bring the "studio" up to my buddies place.
