Wow Bob, you guys have done great job on this. I see that you started this back in 2012 (listening to Fainting in Coils as well) so this certainly is a labour of love (and it shows). Love the Dregs and it's no joke trying to cover them.

Excellent job by both of you!!

Thanks, Mesh - and all who listened and posted.  Your kind comments really make me feel pretty happy.

Mesh - I have tried and failed, to find a way to decipher the initial guitar solo that Allan Holdsworth played for Fainting in Coils.  The notes get pretty buried in the weeds of the mix, when he goes low, and I have never found anyone willing to tackle transcribing that solo for me.

I may well take another crack at figuring out that Fainting in Coils song - I have some pieces fairly well tracked - but definitely need the guitar solo, and also some bizarre little keyboard stabs with bends, during that solo.  I will see if  can finish that song up, as well as get a good finished version of Jean Luc Ponty's Mirage posted, as well as the UK song In the Dead of Night.

THEN, I plan on spending a good chunk of the winter writing - and finishing songs I have already started - that are my own compositions, in addition to the Genesis tribute project.

I am not quite ready to share info on the Genesis project, though in a month or so, should be able to start sharing info on that.

Merry Everything to Everyone,

I just want to say THANK YOU ALL, for taking the time to not only listen to this cover of a great prog song, but also for taking the time to give me feedback on it.  I TRULY appreciate all the kind words.

Of course, now I MUST take another crack at figuring out the 1st guitar solo by Allan Holdsworth, on the Bruford - Fainting In Coils song, from One of a Kind (my 2nd/3rd favorite album of all time).  I will circle back to this recreation project, and see if I can do it justice - I will be playing the guitar lead with my keyboards, so that will be one SERIOUS challenge.

Thanks to all for the motivation to continue my efforts - Fainting in Coils WILL be conquered, or at least talked nicely to, and attempted......

Very well done! From the quintessential jazz-rock fusion album. At least it is to me. There isn't a mediocre song on it.

I'm curious as to why you tried to duplicate the drums though. Why not just do your own thing with them?

Bill

Well, we were primarily interested in learning while using this project to cover many bases in that quest.  I chose to try to faithfully transcribe the drums, because of the challenge, and for what I learned in the process.

Thanks for listening, and for your feedback.
