I'm trying to figure out how do I set up the MPC Renaissance as a plug-in within Sonar?
 
I am moving over to Sonar from Ableton so the learning curve is a bit different in setting things up.
 
Any help would be appreciated.

MPC Renaissance is the hardware. What you need is MPC Software (yes, that's the name).

EDIT PREFERENCES
VST SETTINGS
ADD  - find your VST folder
SCAN VST FOLDER
OK


INSERT
SOFT SYNTH
PLUN-IN LAYOUT
MANAGE LAYOUTS
VST INSTRUMENTS (VSTi)
select MPC from "Registered Plug-Ins"
ADD PLUGIN
pick a name for the "LAYOUT FILE" and save with the floppy disc icon


INSERT
PLUG-IN LAYOUTS
pick the name you saved above
 

Install the MPC Software (stand alone & vst), then add vst folder in plug-in manager in Sonar. Next, scan your plug-ins and once it's done, you should see "MPC"  on your VST Instruments (VSTi) list of registered plug-ins. Next you can load the MPC plug-in as an instrument just as you would Dimension Pro or any other softsynth.
 
Please note that if you don't have a lot of processing power in your computer, the MPC software will not sync correctly with Sonar, i.e., a lot of skipping and dropouts. (I learned this first hand).

Scroll near the bottom of the page to select MPC 1.9.6 for Mac or Windows.

I thought it was understood that if I asked for help in setting it up as a plug-in that everyone would realize that I do have the software already as the software does come with the hardware and that I didn't have to download the software.
I just needed help in figuring out how to set it up to be used as a plug-in in sonar but thanks for the response from everyone, appreciate them all.

My post was rather specific in what help I needed or you just misunderstood what I said when I said Renaissance.
So what would be the point of me trying to use the hardware without the software?
If I bought the hardware obviously it comes with the software.
So why would you ass-u-me I didn't have the software? Since you provided a link for me to download it.
The hardware won't function without the software and the software is needed if it has to work as a plug-in with sonar right?
So if I asked the question it should have been quite obvious that I have the software and all I needed to find out was how to go from step A to B to C to D and none of those steps would have been me downloading any software.
Again I thank everyone for their response but I don't have the time or the patience to deal with any back and forth with anyone on this forum about a simple help request.

No, your post was NOT specific. You made no mention of any software you intended to use,
 
1.) You could be a newbie. Maybe I'm out of touch, but DJGaryB isn't a household name AFAIK. A newbie might misunderstand "plug-in" as a way to get MPC Renaissance audio into Sonar. A plug-in isn't the only option.
 
2.) You could have bought it second-hand off eBay, a pawn shop, or a yard sale. Hell, you could have stolen it.
 
3.) I didn't assume you didn't have the software. I pointed you in the right direction, just in case. Also, there is much more there than just a software download if you bother to look.
 
Sorry, but your posts strike me as being long on pomposity and short on gratitude. Not that we expect a parade. I'm happy when someone who requests assistance can be bothered to reply at all.

I have a new PC und just installed the MPC software and driver ...
I have scanned all VSTs ...
The MPC shows up in the menu "Insert --> Soft Synth"
Then I see the MPC software within Cakewalk.
There is no problem.
