I am just trying to get my system up and running again after a layoff of a few years (life and stuff!) - my current laptop has Sonar X1 Expanded running on Windows XP - now I think I Need a new laptop (Just in general!) so does anyone know if X1  Expanded will run on Windows 10?

Yes Sonar X1 comes as 32 and 64 bit so will run fine on Windows 10,, I run Sonar 8.5 64  and I have Sonar x1 LE on a W 10 computer..I don't use it but you install the older version to get use of certain plug ins and instruments. So install Sonar X1 and then-- 
Upgrade,, even if just to Artist. You can use your registered copy of X1 to get a discount and right now they are offering a lifetime membership. 
If your short on cash you can try Sonars new software and just pay monthly.

Last year I installed Sonar X1 Producer (not Expanded) on a new computer with Win 10 Home 64 bit. No problems. I have come to like Win 10 and have since installed Platinum which seems ok as well.

 They were indeed Sonars awkward teenage years as Johnny mentions! I think you will be amazed at how far Sonar has come if you can manage an upgrade Andy:)
