What am I doing wrong? I double-click the install from Part 1, and Windows asks me what program I want to use to open it with. How do I get this to run the install? Sorry I am so stupid.

Try right clicking and "Run As Administrator".

Oh I think I know what's happening. You are probably try to run the Help Me file instead of the exe. That was the install directions. Right click and open with notepad or if it's a pdf use your pdf reader (Like adobe Reader). The SECOND part of the download is the installer. Here, check this out... http://www.cakewalk.com/s...tion_instructions.aspx There is a link at the bottom of that page that tells you what's what. Cheers.

Does an X2 icon appear for that file?  Is it really an *.exe file?  I recall having to rename the X1 installer by adding the EXE at the end.  Try that and see if it helps.

For some reason the files aren't appending .exe to the end of them when I save them. Easy enough to fix, though, just right-click on each file,  rename and add the .exe extension to the end of them. I hope that helps!

Thanks guys, but no luck so far. I am not trying to open the help file. I already read the install instructions.

When I add the .exe to the file name, it still asks what program to use. Just for the heck of it, I told it to use SONAR X1 but then it fails...ha ha ha. I must be stuck on stupid.

Imagine having the download complete and ready to go, but being unable to run it... I have become a typically impatient American...ha ha ha.

Really? Wow, that would be pretty lame.

Did you guys download with Internet Explorer?

I'm pushing a fix to the store to make sure IE doesn't rip the .exe extension. I'm sorry about that if you ran into it!

If you add the .exe extension to the end it should fix that. Let us all know how you make out.

Oh good. I don't use IE. Firefox has a download manager built in.
