Thanks guys, but no luck so far. I am not trying to open the help file. I already read the install instructions.

When I add the .exe to the file name, it still asks what program to use. Just for the heck of it, I told it to use SONAR X1 but then it fails...ha ha ha. I must be stuck on stupid.

Imagine having the download complete and ready to go, but being unable to run it... I have become a typically impatient American...ha ha ha.

Do you have file extensions hidden for known file types? If you're in Windows Vista/7 you should be able to go to Organize > Folder and Search Options to bring up the Folder Options settings. This should be available from Windows Explorer. Go to the View tab and remove the check mark next to "Hide extensions for known file types". Afterwards, try renaming the files with the .exe extension.

I did use IE8 to download. But adding .exe isn't helping. Let me try some more. Please help with any other ideas if you have any. Thank you.

You could just download them again using Firefox or get a download manager if you are stuck with IE. Why MS doesn't include a dl manager is beyond me. Terrible program. Edit: oops... guess you got it. Have fun.

That's great! Make sure they're all named .exe at the end. The only one that doesn't have that extension is the zipped folder for 04_Dimension_Pro_1.5_Expansion_Packs.zip

File name listing is available a the bottom of http://www.cakewalk.com/x2install for anyone curious.

P.S. Sorry about the trouble!

I'm totally confused.  I downloaded with IE9 and my four X2 parts and 3 Loops and One Shots files are named like this:

02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part1[1]
02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part2[1]
etc.

Am I supoosed to remove the extension shown i.e. '.part1[1]' etc. and replace with .exe?  In which case how will it know the different parts?
Or remove the dot, add exe and rename the file to '02_SONAR_X2_Producerpart1[1].exe ?????'
Edit: And the file '05_SONAR_X2_Producer_Additional_Content' which has no extension I just add .exe?

The latter, but I also removed the numbers in paranthesis as well, so the file names match what are listed on the DL page. For example I changed "02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part1[1]" to "02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part1.exe".

edit: the easiest way is just compare the files names you have downloaded to what they are listed as from the cakewalk download page. They should be the same thing. Hope that helps.

You probably started the download prior to me being able to fix the issue with IE. Did you download them twice by chance? Usually you don't get a [1] or a [2] at the end unless you trigger the same file twice. I'm truly sorry for the trouble!

As adeptus minor suggested, you can always re-name the files as listed on the other page. These are the names again for your reference:

01_Read_This_First.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part1.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part2.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part3.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part4.exe

03_Loops_And_One_Shots.part1.exe

03_Loops_And_One_Shots.part2.exe

03_Loops_And_One_Shots.part3.exe

04_Dimension_Pro_1_5_Setup.exe

04_Dimension_Pro_1.5_Expansion_Packs.zip

05_SONAR_X2_Producer_Additional_Content.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Studio.part1.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Studio.part2.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Studio.part3.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Studio.part4.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Essential.part1.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Essential.part2.exe

02_SONAR_X2_Essential.part3.exe

Huh. I'm dling with FF and my exe's are stripped out too but when I right click it's giving me the "Run" options so I'm assuming it'll work. I'm not installing today anyway so I'll just see what happens with everyone else. BTW my first file (aside from the install instructions and the read me) is displayed like this 02_SONAR_X2_Producer.part1 There are no extra numbers in brackets.
