How do you synchronize already recorded audio with a midi track ...Example :  I recorded a guitar track than played drums using additive drums as midi ...Then I quantized the drum track ...Now the guitar track is off a little ...Without doing the entire track over ...How do I now synchronize the guitar audio track to the quantized drum track ....Im using Sonar producer 8.5.3 and a fireface ufx  as my interface ....

Hi. Have you tried to use Audiosnap to correct the guitar?
All the best.

Were the guitar and drums in sync prior to quantizing?   If so why quantize?

this is a dangerous game.
you should always try to record your drums first, then guitars.
if I were you, I would redo the guitar track.

unless of course there is something out of synch, like your buffers, which is causing the issue.
You could try using Autosnap as Ken mentioned. that's really your only choice.
me personally, I would be doing the track over.

always start with your drums as a base because it has pieces that are quantized to 1/8 notes, 1/16 notes.
those should always be your starting instrument because of small differences. there of course other times when a guitar part is necessary to lay down first. but I typically use that first guitar track as a "Dummy track".
a guide.

Tempo map insertions - Set Measure/Beat at Now (Shift M on points of the audio track) is simplest provided only one audio track is involved. Once multiple audio tracks are out of sync, AudioSnap or recording is about the only solution as mentioned above.

+1 for Set Measure/Beat At Now (Ctrl+M in 8.5.3) if you want to sync the timeline (and thus the MIDI) to the Guitar audio with tempo changes... except for one problem; it did not work properly in that release.   It worked as expected in 8.5.2 and was eventually fixed again in X3.

But if you really prefer to stretch the guitar audio to match the quantized drums. You'll need to enable Audiosnap on the guitar track, verify the clip tempo and transient markers are set/detected correctly, and then quantize it.

You'll want to check the SONAR Ref. Guide or Help for Audiosnap usage since the leyboard shortcuts and tools for working with Audiosnap have changed significantly since 8.5.3.

Brundle, I'm wondering if what he's experiencing is the issue we've been dealing with recently with the Timing Offset and not related to quantizing at all? That's what I understood by his original post and am wondering if he's being misunderstood?

Newday60, when you ask, "How do you synchronize already recorded audio with a midi track?", are you talking about the entire tracks being out of synch with each other? Like one is ahead or behind the other, as a whole?
