Splat quits responding when I try to bounce take lanes to clips on a vocal track.  Anyone else have this problem?  I'm using the latest build, 22.,9.0 BUILD 36 (2016.09) -x64

I have Sonar Platinum installed in a "non standard" location (not on the C drive).

1) Does this release support loading the update to where I have Sonar currently installed (using CCC)?

2) Does this release support my installing Sonar wherever I want to install it (using CCC)?

3) What do I need to do to do either 1 or 2 above?

thanks

Keith

1) Yes. This update, when installed manually or via Command Center, will update SONAR in place, even in custom locations.

2) Not automatically. You'll need to run the installer in verbose mode. But, as suggested above, once you set the location, future Command Center/unattended installs will pick up the appropriate location.

3) If SONAR is already installed how/where you want it, just run the update from Command Center by clicking the "Update" button. You should be able to do it this way from now on. If SONAR is not yet installed, go to Settings in Command Center and enable "Verbose Install." Return to the products page and click "Install" on SONAR. Choose "Advanced" mode and specify your custom directories. When the installation completes, you can uncheck verbose mode. all subsequent updates will use your custom path.

But as of this release you can not CHANGE any part of the install, so again we lose install control but with a different twist than last issue (i.e., in release 22.7.... that one would only install to default C:\ paths) .

Please give us complete install control BACK!

This version (22.9.0.36) of the installer now grays out ALL install location items: it ONLY installs EVERYTHING to where it was before,  not only Shared folders and CW Content (that's how it’s been for a long time - but is also limiting not sure why user can never change that) but also the basic program and VST plug-ins?

How did this get so screwed up in last few releases.  For years (since DOS) the  installer for CW and Sonar worked OK (expect I never understood the limiting inability to CHANGE shared folder locations )

Before the inevitable drone question:  I ran the install MANUALLY ( I NEVER use the CCC)  so the install was independent of Cakewalk Command Center's use "Verbose" mode (or not) and the Command centers install paths  ( i.e., verbose mode is immaterial to this) .

DayDay72
Been tracking all morning.
I just went online, installed update, loaded Sonar Project that I was working on pre-update.
Project now pops, clicks, snags, delays and stops.

It was all good 20 minutes ago.....now its not.

I need to roll back immediately. Is this possible?

**Update:

I am noticing this on multiple projects.  Also noticing higher spikes.

Power off and reboot your PC and make sure there are no windows updates active. Sometimes after an update the disk cache is full and some people notice temporary issues.

The manual installer no longer allows you to change any paths. The VST plugins are always pointing to the wrong directories

CORRECTION: This installer actually selects the correct VST paths now (the others didn't in the past), but none of the paths in the installer can be changed (all greyed out)

Any program folders that have been pre-defined during a previous install will be grayed out. This is by design. When you're installing SONAR over an existing install it's basically in "update mode." That way you can't accidentally install SONAR into multiple places on your system.

If you want SONAR installed to a different location, you'll need to uninstall, then reinstall using the latest release. During that reinstall, all relevant paths should be customizable. Let me know if you have any questions about that.

Thanks!

YOU MEAN by "NEW design," it was NEVER like that in the "old design" - I've (and I suspect a lot of folks here) have been installing CW & Sonar since DOS.

This is a step backwards, and is akin to MS forcing OS updates, when not wanted/needed, in the guise of protecting us from ourselves.
If a user wants to change basic program path - only an IDIOT would uninstall Sonar (after installing all the PREVIOUS Sonars with their attendant addons, addins, apps, etc.) and have to go back and reinstall one, two , or more OLD (pre-Platinium) Sonars to get an old app item back.

I guess I'm back to registry hacks when I need to change things (lie we have to do in some cases, e.g., for Studio Instruments, to get multi samples and other "stuff" off the C drive)

+1 on the Windows download, which has been an unmitigated disaster here! Internet "can't find servers", miscellaneous settings have reverted to factory defaults without my permission, and, worst of all, Sonar is dropping out like crazy on me....grrrrrrrr!
