Hi
I recently got a new adk for recording. I have a few plugins like the camel stuff where the company is gone. Is it possible to copy the .dll files and have it work? Thanks

Depends on the plugin.  Usually it's just a case of moving the DLL to your VST folder.  However, some plugins have folders in other locations like off the c:\Program Files or c:\programdata folder.  They might also have folders off your c:\users folder.

Some plugins even have registry entries that are required for the plugin to function.

I guess one way to know for sure is move the plugin DLL file to a folder that you know Sonar is using for plugins and then do a reset and rescan and see what happens.

Thanks Promidi. I have a 3TB drive with all of my samples, audio recordings and a copy of my VST directories and program files on it.  I know enough about computers (dangerously low, tho) to know that there are numerous things that require registry entries and those will not directly copy over.

It is a shame that people like Camel shut down.  Similarly, I used SoundForge a ton.  That is gone now - or in the hands of Magic!

Thanks again for your help.

I have the old installers I downloaded for alchemy.  New computer - I hope I can get it to work on that one.
