  • Track and Console View Sync issue - occurred in SONAR 2016.08 update

Just wondering if anyone else who has installed the Early release has noticed this:
When I open some recent projects in the new Early release version I installed, there is a new change in behaviour regarding the tracks that are hidden between Track View and Console view. Track View is correct, but Console View has all the tracks turned on and visible, though I always save projects with most midi tracks hidden in Console View, and only have audio tracks visible.

I usually have the "Global options - Keep track/console visibility states in sync" . . . turned off (as seen in keyboard command "H")
Now, it seems to be defaulting to being turned on in recent projects.

I can "fix" this by going to Track View and clicking "Shift-F" . . . then when I toggle back over to Console View, the correct hidden track setup I have saved in the project, is remembered. (but Keep track/console visibility states in sync . . . remains checked on)

Certainly no showstopper, but a curious change in behaviour . . . wondering if there may be a reason why ?

Also, I'm unclear if we are to report such anomalies directly into the Problem Report Forum . . . or try to confirm here first ?

which tracks are not hiding properly ? synths ? (Audio and Midi, or both ?)
if so which ones ?

No tracks are hiding in Console View on any of my projects upon opening . . . midi, audio, synths, doesn't seem to matter. It's just not remembering which tracks I had hidden until I refresh the Track View with Shift-F command, then it reverts to the proper hidden track set up I had saved with the project. I've never had to do this before.

I had not noticed a problem, and cannot reproduce it when I try. 'Keep in sync' is remaining off, and hiding different track types in Track and Console views is persisting. I did not try any permutations involving folders or having the Console view undocked, unfloated etc. (I had it docked).

Are you seeing this in more than one project? And can you reproduce the problem in a new project started from the Basic or Blank templates?

I'm seeing this in all existing projects I open. I don't use track folders. I use the Console view undocked, my startup template has always had Console View set so I can toggle between Track View and Console View using key command CTRL-TAB.
I will test it with a new project and report back later.

This is happening to a friend of mine (SPLAT since last months unpdate) so I can confirm your not the only one this is happening to. I don't use this feature because it never worked for me since it was introduced in the X series I believe. I just hide/unhide manually.

I'm also seeing tracks previously hid show back up in just CV when opening a previously saved project...

I was thinking it had to do with the dual monitor setup  - TV on left monitor, CV on the right monitor, with CV undocked.

There must be a disconnect when CV sets out floating on it's own away from the dock... !

I noticed that unchecking, then checking the sync box, then selecting OK and closing the hide dialog box gets it working correctly for a bit.

Thanks for the replies everyone, looks like a few here have noticed this is happening on their systems as well . . . at least those who are using the Console View in similar way as I am ?

I tested this with a new project (using my "Normal" startup template that I have been using for many years) , created a new midi track, created an new audio track, inserted a new VST Synth track . . . hid them all in Console View, saved the project. When I close Sonar and re-open the project . . . the hidden tracks in Console View are no longer hidden.

Correction, further development . . . a final test reveals that this actually got broken in the Sonar 2016.08 (Aug) update . . . because when I rollback to Sonar 2016.07 (Jul) update . . . all hidden tracks in Console View are saved properly, and are remembered when re-opening the projects. I'll try and change my thread title to reflect this . . . hmmm . . . but how ?
 OK think I got it.

I’ve had similar problem with the 2016.08. In several projects, I’ve been hiding a folder of unused midi tracks with the ”in sync” option selected at the Track Manager window. Whenever I re-open the project, the hidden tracks are un-hidden in the console view but stay hidden on the track view.
