Find out where rda1117.dll lives. Please search your hard drive. Also right click the file then click properties and see if you can find more info about it.

Sorry but there have been a lot of threads recently it's not like we don't care.

BTW this is a user forum, if you want support please ring cakewalk.

Thanks...

Thanks...I'm aware this is a user forum...where else though do I go to get support? I'm not ringing Cakewalk from Australia - as I have mentioned in past posts - as I cannot afford it - and on that point, why isn't there cost-effective phone contact for end-users who live in other countries?

Upgrading to Plt has cost me more than I can afford as currently as I'm not working. From the 'get-go' I had blue screens when first installing PLT, which had me installing in safe mode. This was apparently to do with bitdefender virus protection - bdfsfltr.

All I want is a stable DAW to create music...and if there are issues, then to get some support. A week goes by after contacting Tech Support with no response. I realise you're busy, but hey, so am I. I have many projects to work on currently and this is not helping...but I am grateful someone has responded at least.

I have tried searching for rda1117.dll on my system but it wasn't found.

After Sonar stops working, there is an on-going issue of it hanging in Task Manager. After around 5mins, it disappears and restarting Sonar will typically say it can't be found. I have to unplug the Quad and replug it for Sonar to 'see' it, despite being able to play sounds in Windows...that is by testing playback devices. This particular issue has NEVER been solved by either Cakewalk nor Roland!

I'm sorry if I come across as being angry...but I am! How many times do I have to report these occurrences before someone out there can finally solve why I have these on-going issues? The last time I had a lot of issues, many said about the creative drivers - elite pro - and maybe hardware related issues, 3rd party plug-ins etc. So I build a powerful system, put on an 'ultimate' 64bit OS, get lots of ram, i7 8 core blah blah and got a Roland Quad Core reputed to have been designed to work with Sonar. How much more do I have to spend to get a stable system? Okay that's obviously rhetorical.

On another matter, there is apparently a known issue with Kontact 5 and Sonar? This is what NI tells me as I have also had 'mini-crashes' as well...it goes on. I think 3rd party VST creators should ensure that their plug-ins work successfully with specific DAWs and not sell them - or update them - until they work properly. It just complicates everything between OS's, DAWs, hardware, software, drivers blah blah. Maybe Sonar should have a more comprehensive system of identifying and stopping 3rd party VST's from bringing it down.

Sorry for the vent...I feel very isolated with these issues and not supported and/or assisted. I appreciate I'm not the only one with issues. I do post this in the event other users have similar issues and they may provide solutions having had similar issues. Surely I can't be the only one to own a 'bum' system?/

The file is there otherwise it wouldn't be crashing. Try searching for hidden files in the root of all your hard drives.

Check the problem reports forum about kontakt.
I'm in the UK myself I recommend Skype.

Cheers.

Hi Alex. Okay, found the RDA1117.dll. I knew that it was associated with the Roland Quad Capture. There appears to be several versions in this particular folder. Was going to attach a screen shot but no options to upload image.

Basically says : 'roland quad capture driver update\quad_wind
Application extension.

It would seem that the issue is almost certainly the audio driver Fabio. I guess you have tried completely removing the drivers and reinstalling the latest version?

I believe there may be a good reason Cakewalk don't respond as quickly when just one person is having an isolated problem. It is most likely something else on the system (like your audio driver) rather than their DAW software. As frustrating as this is when it is you having the problem, it would be very time consuming for them  to diagnose every piece of software on everyone's computer!  Hang in there bloke - people on this forum are very helpful:)

Am I though the only person having issues with the quad-core and Sonar? I have seen other with issues and this audio interface and its performance and/or issues with Sonar...but again I am unsure if it's the only thing that causing crashes.

Thanks for your encouragement tenfoot...every day starts out good. Cheers.

I have had a serious issue with rda1110.dll which is the octa capture asio driver and kontakt 5. Cake support declared it to be rolands problem but after extensively trying to get them (roland) to do something about it I gave up. More than a couple of instances open running LA scoring strings and the project wont even load, instant crash. I found a way round it by freezing the instances of Kontakt and saving every time i was finished for the day, and unfreezing them after I had loaded the project the next time. Major PITA!
I ended up changing to the WDM/KS drivers and haven't looked back since.

I suggest.

Install the system update.
Uninstall and reinstall the Roland Quad-Capture drivers whether you are on the latest versions or not (reboot inbetween).

See if that gives...

Cheers...

NI re Kontact say: This is a known issue listed in our system [KT5-2225]

Wizard 71: Thanks I've tried the WDM/KS drivers but they distort the sounds. Perhaps I needed to play around with them further. Do you have to change buffer size etc to accommodate them? Also, does the Roland software work with these drivers?

CakeAlexS, thanks but I've recently done this. I could do it again I suppose. System update is current as well.

Make sure you have the latest firmware, not just the latest drivers.

I certainly understand your frustration, but it does seem to be system-specific. I'm not seeing the same kind of reports from others. The good news is that when you do have this type of problem, it's usually just one thing that's a problem and once you fix that, all is well. It definitely looks driver-related. It may have something to do with multiple DLLs installed.
