Every kit piece, overhead, room to their own track  ... then process, group, route inside of SPLAT...

That's my workflow.

Yup, me too.

I route to all different tracks in sonar. The only problem I find is that all the preset drum kits have different outputs, so you have to mess with the output trim in AD2 (if i'm missing something here, please chime in!)

I make a kit I like for a particular project/group of songs.  Set the outputs to separate channels, then save it as my own kit.  It saves all the output details how I prefer them to come into Sonar.

That's a good tip. I do the same.

I don't use AD2 having committed to BFD years ago. But I can tell you that all kit pieces in BFD2 & 3 need to be reduced by a uniform 9dB in order to see sensible levels in SONAR. Whether this is achieved using the BFD mixer faders or SONAR's track input gain is a matter of preference.

Hi, I usually operate in a mixed mode kinda way.

I'll set AD to separate outs for all tracks but use certain aspects of the AD processing on individual kit pieces. I like the distortion and tape drive settings within AD and will usually apply some of these. I'll also send the AD reverb to the master out and mess around with this in SONAR such as parallel processing with a compressor etc.

For example, I'm using Acustica Pink on my snare, overheads, room and master drum bus within SONAR, but apply a little crunch within AD or even use some of AD's compressor on kit pieces.

Works well here.

This is how I'm currently working, too.  I'm new to AD2, though I've used SSD4 a lot and I've decided this time around to deliberately try new and different things from my usual methods.  I'm really enjoying the serendipity.

I've also been fortunate enough this time to have plenty of time to really dive in and spend some (a lot!) of time making fine adjustments.  I've got a good track template together and created my own drum map so i can sequence with either my electric drum kit or inside the DAW.

I like the results I'm getting but I'm also definitely picking up some great ideas from all your responses.  Cheers!

I send all the individual Addictive Drum pieces to separate tracks. I already know how to use the processors I have in Sonar, and they are enough for the drums, without having to learn the ropes inside AD. Of course, you have to do some things in AD (or whatever sampler you're using), such as drum tuning and virtual mic placement. But reverb, EQ, compression, tape simulation -- these things I do in Sonar.
