I am a Sonar user
and my sound card is Onkyo 200PCI, which doesn't have midi input device
 
I heard from somebody that I can create virtual midi input device without purchasing actual midi keyboard device
but I cannot find how to do that
 
Long time ago, when I used Sound Blaster sound card, that Sound Blaster sound card has midi synthesizer inside.
So I could set up midi input device inside Cakewalk 9.0 software without purchasing midi keyboard device
 
So, could you please let me know:
How to create and set up midi input device in Sonar software?? (I am using Sonar 7)

Hi, and welcome to this forum.
You can enter MIDI notes several places without using a MIDI controller / keyboard. 
When inserting a MIDI track, select it, and press Alt + 3, which will open Piano Roll View (which is the one I use the most). And Alt + 4 will open step sequencer. Hope it helps.

And, however, with the method you told me, I cannot hear the key I just pressed from the speaker.
And I cannot hear anything when I play the keys.
 
When I used Sound Blaster several years ago,
the Sound Blaster card can let me hear the key I press on the piano roll
and when I play the keys I composed, I can hear the music I made from the speaker.
 
How can I do these, Ken? Please instruct me once more.

Have a look at the "Internal sound card playback" and "External MIDI synth setup" sections of the FAQ entry "I can’t hear MIDI playback", I believe it will help you.

Still I need more study to make Sonar play the sound
In that web page, there are many following other web pages to study
(Yet the  speaker didn't create any sound
but the volume level in the cwp sheet shows something are playing
(volume  level goes up and down, like this)

Since MIDI is purely data the MIDI track does need to be routed (through its output) to something that generates sound, such as a soft synth like TTS-1, and that output needs to make its way thru SONAR likely through a bus and then from that bus to your audio device that is connected to your speakers.    IOW, it's a matter of routing from the MIDI track all the way to your speakers, making sure that each point along the way is properly "connected" to the next.

Which version do you know that is?
Or can you translate that set up guide to Sonar 7 version guide?

That link above is for the current SONAR version. Here is a link to set up the internal TTS-1 in SONAR 7. It has been a long time since I have used 7, but at the point where he mentions "Inserting a soft synth" menu, you can choose any soft synth which SONAR 7 recognizes. The advantage of TTS-1 is it is (still) great for composition, and allows you to feed it 16 MIDI tracks on discrete channels and it will play all 16 instruments.
