While working on a project and saving every 30 seconds (control-s) my system came up with a message sharing violation. I lost my .cwp project but I can still see the audio files.

There is a temp file named mrcce.tmp that is similar in size to the original .cwp file.

I do have a backup of the original .cwp, minus 6 hours of stellar BGVs.
I searched the computer and could not find the original name of the .cwp
I've since then turned on auto save and versioning

1. What may have caused this?
2. Hardware issue or software issue?
3. Initial problem caused by hard drive?
4. Suggestions on extracting the info from the temp file?

If you're running any anti-virus software, make sure you've exempted .cwp (and .wav) files from scanning.

Hopefully, that tmp file is a renamed copy of your project. Easy enough to find out.

Yeah you might get luck by renaming mrcce.tmp to myproject.cwp
