  • Annoying Process to Get Sonar to see Presonus Faderport (p.3)

Hi man,
This post reminded me I had a Presonsus Faderport so I dug it out.
I'm using Windows 8.1 and Sonar Professional.
I do not know what AZ Controller is so I'm not using it.
It took me about 45 mins to get Faderport working reliably and consistently, after I followed this process it worked great:

The only thing that is not working is the PLAY Button and the pan pot is glitchy (though I think that might be damage to the unit itself)

Mine seems to work with both, but the motorized fader does not move.  Any magic required to get this to work?

Hi Pat. Dumb question but, are you sure you have the AC power cord plugged in? The fader won't move without AC power. Try plugging it in to a different outlet. Also, go into preferences and make sure you have key aftertouch and channel aftertouch both enabled.

I just got the FaderPort and installed according to PreSonus instructions and it's working great except the pan pot is glitchy.
Is it a typical problem for the pan values to jump around radically, or is it a bad encoder as Adji suggested?
TIA

I have the faderport running perfectly with Sonar Platinum. I have downloaded and installed the latest faderport drivers from the Presonus web site (http://www.presonus.com/p...s/FaderPort/downloads) . Did you u copy the faderport.dll file (included in the installation disk supply with the unit) in the Cakewalk Shared Surfaces folder ?

Yes, I downloaded latest driver and copied dll to Sonar's shared folder.
Everything is working perfectly except the pan pot, which works, but jumps around in values instead of smoothly changing pan values. It's almost as if the pan pot encoder isn't working correctly, but I see others have had this issue, is it possible that so many people have units with a bad pan pot?

It's a definitely a design flaw - there's more than a few of us that has had a Faderport with glitchy pan pots. Send it back!

I followed the directions, have the DLL file in the right place and the Faderport lights up in the right places (e.g., play, loop, record) when I use my computer keyboard to stop, play, etc.  But I cannot get Sonar to recognize the Faderport to initiate these or any items except Volume and pan.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

The only support I can provide is that my faderport works solidly *without* the AZController.
It works in Reaper, Mixbus 3/32C and of course Studio One Pro 3 no matter which one I open in any order.
IIRC on my system I had to go one rev lower on the then current driver.

+1 here without AZController.  It always just "sees" it.

Make sure you have aftertouch enabled

Don't know if this was directed to my post but I'll try this next time I'm in the studio.  Thanks for posting the suggestion, whomever it is for.
