Phase 90
Hi.

I ve just started mucking around with soft synths on Sonar studio x2.

I opened a soft synth and it inserted a audio and midi track.  I set the inputs and outputs and I could hear the soft synth through my speakers.  So far so good.  I have a signal in the audio track as thats the output effectively but there is no signal on the midi track and that is the only track with a record button and therefore I cant record any music using the soft synth.

I am not using a midi controller at the moment only my mouse to controll individual notes, as I want to play around first.

Can anyone help as I ve looked everywhere.

I always managed to play soft synths on my Sonar LE x1.

I have vista with 2gb of ram.  Like I said LE worked fine enough for me to record.

MIDI data input with a mouse is the same in X1 and X2. The data may be entered using the step sequencer, piano roll view or staff view. Making a synth sound directly by manipulating the UI with the mouse does not record, it is for audition purposes only.
