Results of ttonight's experiments:
Kontrol s61 will drive old version of Komplete Kontrol and any stand alone on my desktop system with no problem - so I am concluding that the firmware update is not an issue.
My other keyboard, Kurz PC3X will drive the old version of Komplete Kontrol on my desktop. It will NOT drive the new version of Komplete Kontrol on my laptop which does not surprise me because the S61 would not drive the new version of KK until the firmware was upgraded. This leaves me thinking that from this point forward KK can only be driven by Kontrol series keyboards (with updated firmware). The Kurz will drive all of the full Kontact versions of the KK instruments on the laptop with no problem. The Kurz will also drive non-NI stand alones on the laptop with no problem.
S61 will intermittently drive KK and stand alones on the laptop. Not sure sure how consistent this is, but if I start out with say a stand alone of Lounge Lizard there seems to be no prob. If I then go into KK and try to play the KK version of Lounge Lizard that is not happening, not will it play Monarch or Maverick. If I then leave KK and go back to stand alone Lounge Lizard even that won't work any more.
Thinking my version of KK update software is a corrupt install. This makes some sense because I thought the new software worked when I first installed. It was the next day or 2 days later when the Service Center wanted me to download it again (might have been the hot fix) that I think the problems may have started. Will uninstall and try again. Tomorrow.
