DeeringAmps
Just goes to show you its not about the "latest greatest tools".
Its all about the song.
Sonar 6 on an XP machine; right?
Well done!

hit deering!
yes, S6, and XP......
really, it's mostly just using a DAW as a tape deck.
there are better tools now, for EQ, effects.....
about the only thing i can't do on a tape deck, is do the midi drum tracks!
LOL
but sonar works very smoothly for me.

This thread...

Yeah, it is more important...

Like Biodiode I know I'm gonna like the song before I hear it.   Just the way it is.   And this one did not disappoint at all.   Rockin thru and thru, solid groove with some nice fills, and great guitar layering with enough tonal differences so that everything stands out while still gelling.   Loved the wah-ishness - is that a manual WAH, auto-WAH or other?   Oh, and the solos were absolutely Batsy.

hey steveC!!
this thread........ still going?!

well, ok!

the wah work.....
that's on a Budda Wah. that's all just regular real time wah work, i try to be as vocal with it as i can be....
and every once in a while, just let the rocker go wild!
heheh

i stole that from hendrix, the fast wah thing....

directly, from the end of still raining, still dreaming... at the end of the song, when they are wrapping up the groove

one of my favs.

Very nice, Bat.  Sounds excellent to my ears.  I also like the Wah, work, very well done.  Really like how you handled the intro.

The only nit I would have is purely personal preference, at 3:35, when things calm down briefly, I might have gone for less doubling of the vocal to make it slightly more intimate.

hey michael!
thanks for listening...... glad you like the wah stuff,
i'd do wah ALL THE TIME!! LOL
'cept it'd drive folks nuts.

the breakdown with vox at 3:35, that's not voice doubling, that's 3-part harmony.
but yea, having just the one voice right there would have totally worked, yea, i hear that.

i hadn't really thought of that during the mix phase....

i guess i wanted to get right into that 3 part harmony thing kind of like a trippy beatles seque,
maybe my rundgren influence as well.

the idea, was to super space it out right before the trippy intro to the solo proper.
the guitars are kinda doing the same thing, coming out of the vocal and into the solo...
it's one of those things you dont' really pick up on, til you've heard it the 3rd or 4th time....
