What's the best way to copy and entire project to a new file?
 
In the past, I've done it track by track but boy are my arms tired...
 
This particular file has 69 tracks but for reasons unknown, they're all unusually quiet. I can't figure it out, levels are fine on the meters and I've got 6 db extra in the Master bus that everything goes through. 
 
This happened once before and I remember solving it by moving it all to a new file.

Well, here's what I do; every so often I save a new version (as well as auto versioning). To do that I just do save as and save the file in the current project directory with a different name - I normally add letters of the alphabet on the end e.g. song-i.cwp If you want to save a copy of your entire project then just do save as then navigate to where you want to save it, check the copy all audio option and click save. This will create a directory with the .cwp and copy the audio files to the audio directory.

I tried that but a copy, even with a new name, has the same problem when I open it.
 
I solved the problem by opening a NEW project and copying the tracks one by one to the new project. That way the data is the same but it isn't a copy. I don't know why that's different but it is.

• I create new, empty tracks in the destination file that exactly match the name and number of source tracks
• I drag all the source clips back to the Start point and copy them into the destination by copy/drag/drop
• Copy the effects, by drag and drop - i.e. make a duplicate that isn't a Save As
• Duplicate the routing

It's a little tedious but it works. I can't explain why the problem occurs or why the solution works. When I have that problem, which is rare, a Save As only seems to save the problem with a new name.
