I use a similar approach where I have piano arrangements in chord form. I tried the paint tool but I just couldn't warm up to it the way I had hoped. I also have a similar library for my drum beats (4-4 with hi hats / 4-4 with ride, exc..
 
anyway, thanks for sharing your ideas with us. I feel very fortunate to have you here on this forum pinging ideas around. im not trying to sound like a suck up either. I have no reason to.
I just simply admire your approach to recording and feel grateful to have forum contact and hear your ideas here.
