Hi all,
I've got a new one that's finally passed the birth canal.

The music was originally written back in late 1998-99, recorded as a pure MIDI piece in 2004, then just this year I fleshed it out with some better synths, real bass, new electric and acoustic guitar parts, and finally wrote some lyrics.   So all and all about 18 years in the making...
And with that said, this is "Pages (The Story Told)", a song that was/is heavily influenced by classic 70s era progressive rock.

Very cool Steve. Great performances and production touches.
Please don't take this the wrong way but you always manage to make your pieces muzo yet hooky. All of the time signature stuff and runs etc are backed up by a very tuneful Song.
Nice one.

Glad you were able to get together with some real instruments, although there's nothing wrong with all MIDI recordings (it all I can do myself).
Your recording is great.  Very catchy tune.  Very well mixed and balanced.  Had my foot tapping.  It was well worth the time it took you to produce it.

Great job Steve!  I was waiting for the flute solo.  Close enough!  If I recorded this song the only thing I would have done different is get dressed up in full '70 Prog Rock garb while recording the tracks.
I think you totally captured the sound/vibe.

Thanks, Daryl!  I'm not sure how to take muzo + hooky as a bad thing though...  just the opposite actually.  I grew up listening to prog on records and AM pop on the radio.

Thanks, John!  It's nice to have real instruments for certain things, for sure. But I can't imagine not having MIDI.    I'm glad to know it had your foot tapping!

Thanks, John!   Flute solo, huh... I can actually picture that.     In regards to differences in recording "technique", do you mean something like this?

Love it!  The opening reminds of Kansas, 'He Knew', and then carries into its own identity.  The guitar is a little like Steve Howe, some of the instrumental key breaks are like Genesis, but overall it is its own sound.
Great job!

This took me back to those heady days of sitting crossed pawed on some head's bedroom floor, with a gentle blue fog hanging about 18" to 2' off the floor.

Excellent stuff Steve I can hear all those 70's influences Yes, Genesis, sweet thanks for sharing and

Hey Steve, although this song isn't among my favorites of your songs (and I'm such a fan of your work), I think that the performances, arrangement, mix and such on this are superb -- super creative and a blast to hear!...

18 years, huh?  Doesn't even come close to my record, Steve .  Seriously though, this was great... very true to form.  Loved the guitar and keyboard riffs.  Great production work too.
