Here is a kinda jazzy vocal number that I wrote with my wife in mind.  Again, as far as style, I am wandering away from my comfort zone but I one has to try something new once in a while  --- doesn't one?!?

Since I am out of my zone, I would appreciate any comments, suggestions, crit's, etc.

Thanks!

This is a nice song.  I'd like to be sipping a mai tai and watching the sun set in some warm place while hearing your tune.  It reminded me of Michael Franks (remember popsicle toes?).  Evidently, he's teaching music at the college level these days.

Cool jazz for sure! Very laid back compared to most of your songs. I found it to be relaxing. Nice work!

Cool grooving Freddy. A little different for your normal but still good.

Hello my good friend freddy j,

nice tune.  personally I think you should sing this in a little higher register, kind of in a loud whisper, but with authority.  I just hear that in my head.   maybe you don't think you can't do that? what the hey, give it a try, if you have time.  I think it would be a very cool departure.

no arguing the guitar tone at 2:15

very cool around 2:35, very muchchuch, the guitar interplay is what I mean.

sounds good over the ol laptop speakers.

thanks

Thank you David - I appreciate the comments.  Thanks also for putting me on to Michael Franks.  He does some interesting stuff.  I had to look on-line for the meaning intended in popsicle toes. There seems to be a diversity of opinion but it is a cool song.  Thanks again.

Hi Scott.  Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment.  I appreciate the kind words.

Hi James.  I appreciate the kind words.  Slinky -- I have been trying for that in a few numbers that I have given up on (for the time being) and I'm thrilled that I kinda got there with this number.  Thanks!

Hey my furry friend.  I appreciate your taking time to listen and comment.  Every once in a while I have to go in a different direction and I'm glad that it worked out this time.

Thanks Tom!  I appreciate the input.  I did put just a slight touch of reverb on the guitar panned left but I was going for a bit of a vintage sound.  I even used my semi-hollow body guitar for the other 2 tracks and pumped it into the computer straight in an effort to get that effect.  Oh well, what is it that they say about the road to somewhere being paved with good intentions?  ;>)

Jesse -  Thanks buddy!  I get what you are saying about the vocals but this is rainy season in Florida and for me that is rotten sinus time.  I definitely could not get to the high notes during this time of year.  Maybe I'll try again when fall or winter (oops, I forgot --- Florida claims not to have a winter season) comes around.  ;>)  Thanks again for the input!!

Hey, Freddy, cool & smooth! Love the guitar tones! I kind of agree with sliding this baby up maybe a half-step but it's good the way it is. It's a nice song with a great feel and I like your voice a lot.

Here are some nits:

I couldn't hear the kick drum, was there one? If there was it would help pull the bass part in quite a bit. As it is the bass feels somewhat disconnected from the rest of the rhythm parts (guitar and drums).  I listened to Spooky Woman Blues too (which I liked very much, nice work) and noticed that you did a great job with the rhythm section on that one. I'd take those principles and apply them to this tune if it were me. I also noticed the confidence of the vocals on Spooky Woman Blues that made it really swing, and which seems to be muted here.

Jazz is just Blues in a tuxedo I think. :)

Very smooth and silky sound, Kenny -- I enjoyed this -- you did a great job with the recording too -- a cohesive mix -- cool vocal, too.  !!  -- Allan
