It's been many a year. Life has gone so many ways as i am sure it has for all of you. I quite like this production. Done really fast, very good musicians from many lands -Tennessee, Perth, Japan, Italy, New Zealand, Korea. Parental advisory -some real language about a girl who has been hurt. Yes, it's raw-unpolished -not much reverb. Had to be done for a CD release so mixed and mastered very quickly.

Nice to be back and will make it around to everyone's songs in due time.

This is raw and unpolished? Ha! I may as well slit my wrists now and save myself the frustration! This sounds fantastic to me. Strings kill. Vocals are beautiful. What's not to like?

yes, I like this, very eclectic.

the lady can sing

the players can play

how would you categorize this?  were the keyboard parts written out?

I find the harmonies to be very nice and the way you used reverb is very educational.

the violoin at the beginning is a little hot right at the beginning, but not so much as to be cringe worthy.

are the drums programmed, or did you use a real drummer?

I like this much, but mostly for the unique nature of the execution, secondly for the recording, and thirdly but not necessarily far from the top is the song itself.  I only say this because it is a song forum, if I had heard it on the radio I would have not thought much about anything but the song.

at the end is that colio, or kuyo or what.

anyway thanks for the lesson, something to emulate.

Hello Jesse. Thank you for the comments.
Categorize -angst? Maybe World?
The keyboard parts were not written out. That is a Yamaha Motif XS rhodes at the beginning, a CLP170 piano throughout, and a string patch from Omnisphere.
You are correct, the violin is a little hot. The CD release ended up being a month earlier and in order to send the song to be duped, the mixing and mastering were rushed. Also the fact that the artist wanted everything bordering on raw compared to be being polished. Listening back to it now, a little tamer would have been nice.
The percussion at the beginning is a Djembe my son brought me back from Cote d' Voire. The drums are played by Mike Marrington -yes, real drums.
The nylon guitarist said "coolio" at the end of the song -kind of like "quite cool". The artist wanted to keep it.

Have a good day.
Michael

Well, you must admit it is raw and unpolished bordering on messy. It does have a bit of "emotional intensity" as someone put it. That's what I was aiming at. The musicians are all good players and do this for a living as well as the singer/songwriter.
