It's tricky to save your previous installers as Bandlab's installer is A:Always cakewalk.exe and B:deleted at the end if the install. Noel ,please make it so there is a way to revert like in CCC or date stamp our downloads so one is not the same filename as the next and just don't post delete them. I have a feeling this may not be your department there, but you're all we've got right now.

The only way to know what happened is by letting Noel analyze the crash dump. In the meantime, you might want to check your Windows log, as it may hold a clue.

Though I realize this is no comfort, it's unlikely to be a Kontakt compatibility problem. It's something specific to your configuration. Cross your fingers that it really is a Cakewalk bug, because Noel can fix that. What he can't fix are third-party drivers and dynamic link libraries.

I'm having a similar problem, when I try to open a project I'm getting the blue spinning circle and box in the lower right corner saying opening project but the project never opens.

I created a disaster for myself:
To get back to version 2018.06, I did a complete system restore from my Windows backup.
The backup was 1 week ago, I lost a few things, but I can not run out of CbB.
To my surprise, the backup was corrupted. Lost entire Windows 10 installation.
After 30 hours of work to reinstall everything again (Windows, programs, etc), I'm back.
But this time I did not make the same mistake twice: before updating CbB through BandLab Assistant, I took the proper precautions to make a full partition backup, and in addition, I installed it in Sandbox mode.
Result? the same error occurred, ie 2018.07 DOES NOT OPEN ANY PROJECT.
This time I was able to restore my Windows to stay with the 2018.06 version (which as I said, crashes the first time it runs, but the second runs normally).

Noel, I sent you 2 PM, one with 2 dumps of 2018.07 and 1 with 1 dump of 2018.06.

Oh man so sorry to hear that what a nightmare :(
If you were already crashing in the 06 release then its likely the same issue causing the problem in 07. I received your links and will look at it shortly and get back.

Roger sorry but both the archive files you sent are corrupted and cannot be opened. Something went wrong on your end - the files are just about 300K which seems too small. Can you please upload the original dump files?

When you install CbB versions, you can find the cakewalk.exe in C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\bandlab-assistant\Downloads\cakewalk.exe

The trick is after it's downloaded, a window pops up asking to install CbB. First copy the cakewalk.exe to a new folder marked 2018 07 and then choose yes to install CbB. After it installs it will delete the cakewalk.exe file in your download folder.

This way you can easily roll back to a previous version. In addition to this I also save an image file of my C drive, so I can roll back that way also.

hopefully in the future Bandlab will make it easier to have access to previous versions.

did you try opening in safe mode?

Yes, but the problem still occurs. So it seems that this is not about VST loads.

But Noel is currently analyzing this.
