  • Can anything be done with the blue area that pushes window in to asigned area on screen?

Hey there

Don't know how to properly explain this. Let's say I open Melodyne and I have it in separate window- when I move the window to certain location on the screen, a huge blue area opens and sucks my Melodyne window in to the body of Sonar. This is very frustrating. I want to have large window open so I can see all my notes. I like to position it so that my transport is visible and I can press Play and Stop. But right exactly at that position the blue area appears and my window attached and becomes a section of the main view. I don't need it to "feel" when I move window close. Can it be disabled? If I wanted to make this window part of main view, I should be able to do so but I don't want it to constantly attempt to bland in to the background. If that blue area  absolutely has to be there, can it be made smaller and less sensitive? It keeps grabbing my windows with Melodyne, Piano roll and any other view I open in separate window. I have 34 inches monitor but it is long and I don't have a lot of vertical real estate. And the blue area constantly attacking every open window- I have to place them high at the top of the page, which blocks the transport. There must be a way to prevent it from doing it. Any thoughts or tips? Thank you.

If you hold down the CTRL key while dragging the window, this will prevent the blue area from appearing.  This way you can position the window anywhere instead of having it dock.

I've experienced this and was able to resolve it by trying different versions of my video cards driver until I found one that didn't display those blue grab regions so large.

Edited to correct point I was trying to make that a different driver fixed an issue I had that made the grab regions very large.

That doesn't sound like a solution to me. If your card simply isn't showing the blue, surely the functionality of the program is still going to work.

Yes and no. Some video drivers I tried would display that blue grab area so large that it filled half the screen so I couldn't move a window at all without that blue area wanting to grab the window. With the driver I am using now it's a much more subtle indication and will only appear when am close to the top or bottom of Sonar's main window. I figured I'd throw it out there since I can place an undocked melodyne window right below the transport without it being grabbed where I couldn't before.

Interesting. I'm surprised that it would make it different.

There's a windows setting to disable this entirely.   Sorry don't recall how to get there, been so long, but somehow I disabled all that once and for all.   I believe there were posts about it in this forum.

(edit) -- this is Windows 7 -- right click on desk top, select "ease of access" -- then go to "Make it easier to focus on tasks"  -- then go to near the bottom:   "Prevent Windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen".   There may also be corresponding Sonar settings.

Oh you don't like Sonar auto multi-docking either.

Seems most like the multi-dock I wish it never was. No trying to start a war but stand beside the OP.

If you're running Windows 8.1 then I believe the only way to disable the Auto Snap feature is with a 3rd party program, I cant exactly test it myself as I'm on Windows 10.  However; if you're running Windows 10 all you have to do is go into all settings > system > multitasking, you can then turn off all snap options or just specific ones for your preference

Edit: For Windows 8.1, go into control panel > ease of access center > make the mouse easier to use, then find and check the box labeled Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen

A while back they changed the default behaviour so that things wouldn't automatically dock. I have to hold down the control key when dragging in order to dock stuff. Simply dragging it to the dock doesn't work. If the OP would post her version it might be easier to help.

I can't find a way to toggle the default behaviour of the multidock, but I remember that it can be configured. I thought my help files were current but I can't find any info about setting the default behaviour of the dock.
