When I decided to try out MIDI, I went to a local instrument repair shop to buy a sound card and some MIDI cables. I already had a synth with MIDI connections. When I was there, I took the opportunity to ask the owner if he had some appropriate program to go along with it. He said he had, and took a cyan colored box down from a shelf.

This was Sept. 3 1991 and the name of the software was Cakewalk 4.0 for DOS. I bought it and have been a happy Cakewalker ever since. Have upgraded once or twice since then, though.

It's the only DAW I use as well.

Tried a few others over the years, but I didn't find them to be better than SONAR.
Different, but not better for me, so I stick around.

Good point.  Others aren't better or worse, it's just that SONAR does what I  need.

To me,

Sonar is a tool that allows a person to express themselves sonically in an infinite variety of ways. With Sonar an individual may create for themselves a workflow that meets their specific need.  Though not the end all of DAWs (of which none exist,) Sonar can bring the artist out in anyone who is willing to take the time to learn the basic functions and then if so possessed, to go a step further, across the Rubicon of creativity, that is inherent in each person. From mega star to bedroom hobbyist, Sonar is the Swiss Army Knife that can bring people alive, and  cause worlds to collide.
