This was working yesterday. What setting may have got messed up? I can record on a midi track, but when I go to add notes to that track, the previously recorded notes don't sound. Help!

Right click on the red record button on the tool bar, then click "Sound on sound".  That ought to get you going.

Shouldn't that be the default behavior for midi record?

I don't know if it is. but it should be.  I noticed when I downloaded the newest version of SPLAT it reset me from "Sound on sound" to "comping".  Makes me think comping is the default, but I don't know.

I'm not so sure about that.  If you are going to play harmony with a given track then sound on sound is the way to go but if you are going to replace a section via punch-in punch-out then overwrite is what you want.  You can set it up anyway you want via a normal template and that will keep it that way.

What I have experienced so far is that the Sonar's factory setting for MIDI recording is Comping.
I had to change the Basic.cwt template to force the default to "Sound on Sound".
