It'll be strange for us long-timers, seeing a Mac sub-forum for Sonar... but it shouldn't be long now!

You're not alone. As long time died in the wool PC guy, my Windows 10 studio machine is the only Windows box left in the house and Sonar is the only reason for that. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with my Win10 box and have no intentions of changing it anytime soon.

But I've been threatening to rebuild my office desktop into something that could serve double duty as an upstairs writing/tinkering with softsynths sort of machine for ages now. Once I saw the Mac announcement, the deal was done. No more office desktop for me. I bought a henge dock for my MBP and I'm waiting patiently for the first Sonar beta release.

I realize it'll be a LONG time before I can actually use my office for my intended musical purpose, i.e. tinkering with 3rd party soft synth programing and developing song ideas before taking them downstairs for recording on the big box. But that's ok. It's been this long, it'll get here when it gets here.

I have a feeling that this thread is gonna be somewhat nice , peaceful and probably lonely for some of us

I'm certainly over here looking forward to a Mac version of SONAR ....even if it means I have to buy a better Mac

Never used a Mac/Apple computer once and not wanting to lay down the big bucks really, but has to be a major performance improvement.
Not a technical expert but from what I've read Windows and Apple machines are simular in terms of hardware, just the Mac software (how the programm handles audio) is way better.
And recently Universal Audio have an additonal box with processors that combined with their plugins then gives users an incredible power on their machines.
One solid Sonar Mac version is what I hope/pray for and hope it does well for Cakewalk and their passionate awesome staff.

I don't see a problem with Mac and PC people coexisting. As long as each has their own forum there should be no problem. One issue I have thought of is there will be no long time users to help Mac users with any problems they encounter. It may be an adventure for some and a huge headache for others.

I'm a long time Windows operator, but I did repairs and support for both platforms years ago...

As I was gifted a couple of recent mac pro's in a row, I've had the opportunity to use both... I find I never use OSX and simply boot directly into Windows...

I think the biggest benefit is that they are good dual-processor machines with a lot of RAM... Finding dual processor machines is possible in the Windows world, but seemingly not as commonly found.

It will be interesting running Sonar on OSX, but only time will tell us if there is any actual benefit...
