When I create (export) an song, I choose the "MP3" for both the "File Type" and the "Preset". However when I send the song in an email to my windows computer, the file is not attached as an mp3 and will not open or play.  I can play that song though from the same email when it goes to my smart phone. Is there a way to specifically set a song up to export so that it comes through an email as an mp3?

Thanks,
Shark

You may need to zip the mp3 file before sending it. I had that issues.

If it goes to your smartphone, but not your PC email, chances are it's a setting on the PC application to stop large attachments.

The "Send" from your DAW appears to work, or it wouldn't make it to your phone either.  As such, it must be a "receive" issue.

Great, I will try that, thanks Dave.

I figured as much, that is why I was asking if there is a particular setting on the export that would maybe make it so it would not get flagged.

The problem isn't with how you're creating the MP3, it's either your email client or your ISP that's causing the issue.

How big is your MP3? Big enough that it might exceed a size limit imposed by your ISP? (Although that usually results in the attachment being stripped and/or a deliver failure message returned.)

"How big is your MP3?" it is 2.45 MB. And I think it is like you said, it comes through but it is stripped. Its just this icon that says it can't open.

If the phone plays it OK then I agree it seems unlikely the problem is with the mp3 itself.

When you say the file is "not attached as an mp3", do you mean it is present in the email but appears as binary code, is there somehow but the PC doesn't recognise it as an attachment, or is simply not there at all?

What's the mail programme you are using? Does it handle other attachments OK?

Do the phone and the PC use the same email server and the emails addressed to the same email address, so you are picking up the same email from the server, once on the phone and once on the PC, or are different addresses and servers involved?

Try this as an experiment: export half of your project as an MP3, so that the size is under 2 MB and repeat your email test. If the MP3 comes through unscathed, then the issue is the file size.
