With my Novation Impulse I am able to change patches in z3ta by turning the knob for program changes. Unfortunately, it is only possible to change patches within the folder "showcase". When I try to go through another folder it immediately jumps back to "showcase". I may manually go through other folders. Why is that?
Dim Pro doesn't respond to prog changes at all in Novation and I have no idea why..?

If it's within Sonar, that's a longstanding bug that drives everyone crazy.  Read that entire thread, and see if Bank Changes work for you in the z3ta+2 microhost.

Unsupported.  It'd be difficult to load those giant sample sets while flying through external program change messages.

Thanks b rock! It just would be "handy" to run everything thru Novation. Seems like mouse and and up and down arrows on the keyboard are inevitable then.
Just another question: How do you save your favourite patches (sounds) whithin z3ta or Dim Pro? Do you save them under other names ( e g save as: "fav bass no 1") or something? Or do you just keep them as they are under that very project of Sonar and hope to find the same patch with looking back on that earlier project? I hope that "save as" in Z3TA doesn't rename the factory name, or does it??

'Song persistence' has its place.  I usually reserve that for some song-specific minor tweaks of whatever preset I'm using.  I'm sure that I'm in the minority here, but I rarely start from a factory preset.

Almost without exception.  If I do intend to modify a preset, I perform a 'Save As' operation first.  It will go into another subfolder tree of custom presets.  I try to preserve the originals and keep my creations separated.

No.  Not Save As.

Thanks for those great pieces of advice b rock!
Good idea to keep custom presets separated. Right now I took a glance at Alchemy http://www.camelaudio.com/Alchemy.php Seems like it's pretty user friendly software synth in creating and preserving custom patches, at least if you look at the video. It's not the most inexpensive synth, even a bit more than Omnisphere.

I usually have a folder for my presets named, unsurprisingly "Alan."  If I work on a preset that is where it goes in the synth tree.  As to your problem, I don't know.  Just picked up an impulse to replace my dead Le, but I'm using a touch screen now so that is easier than reaching over to the keyboard.

Thanks AT. Tried a demo from Camel Audio http://www.camelaudio.com/Alchemy.php

Their synth Alchemy seems quite easy both to tweak patches and save presets as well with your favourites. It has a rating system a la Guitar Rig.
Played around tonight with the free demo which contains a couple hundred megabytes. Full version is about 5 Gb, at least.

Alchemy is one of the top synths out there for VA and sound design.  Highly recommended.
