Lately, I've been having more frequent occurrences of the "Insert Synth" button being greyed out, which requires a Sonar restart, to enable again.  Not sure what's happening.  Anyone have any ideas?
 
As an example, I'm working on a project, I click the + button to insert a synth,  on the next pop out menu, "Insert Synth" is greyed out, so I can't insert a synth.
 
To get the "Insert Synth" button back, I have to restart Sonar, sometimes a couple times before I can access the button again. 
 
 

Does it work if you choose Insert > Soft Synth?

Or the "Add Track" option above the Track View headers?

I'll have try that the next time it happens.

I've found that the Insert > Soft Synth method does work, when the normal "Insert Synth" method is greyed out, but it messes with my workflow, to have to use this method.  
 
Has anyone found a fix for the greyed out "Insert Synth" issue?   It seems to be happening more often for me.

Yes.  sounds like you have a workflow that works for you.    I did as well.  Now for some reason, it doesn't work some of the time.  Image if you clicked on Insert Softsynth and it was greyed out, then you had to click the + button and then Insert Synth.

I've read a few posts about a windows limitation being the cause the "Insert Synth" button in Sonar, becoming greyed out, when a certain number of plugins is reached.  Does anyone know if a workaround or fix has been found for this?
 
I've found that If I remove a few plugins (freebies, that I rarely if ever use), it must put me under the magic number, and I can access "Insert Synth" again.
