Hello All,
 
Is there a way to change a custom template's Start Screen thumbnail to a different graphic, rather than the SONAR generated name based graphic?  I tried what was described in http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3415475 , but that seems to have no effect.

Yes I did.  And because I wasn't totally clear on how to open in order to resave, I tried a couple of different things ... open the template as a template as if to edit (and resave), open a new project based on that template (and resave it as template) ... but nothing changed the Start Screen thumbnail. 

That is odd, I never even knew about this and just tried it twice successfully. There's only so many steps which I did mess up on the first go around.  Just to be sure did you also make to save the image as <TemplateName>.cwt.png and save it in the templates folder?  

Inside my C:Cakewalk Content\Sonar Platinum\Project Templates folder I have a template called "+ AcGtr, Bss, Dr, Pno.cwt", and immediately under it resides "+ AcGtr, Bss, Dr, Pno.cwt.png".  I just pasted those names into this post by copying and pasting the actual file names.  During troubleshooting, I actually started with simpler names without commas and I believe also without the leading "+" (for "vies by name" sorting reasons).  Maybe I should try it again without the leading "+"?
 
Hey, and if you felt like posting the steps in your own words, that may be helpful as well, though there isn't really much to misinterpret in that original post.

I just tried saving the template as "Pete.cwt", and the graphic as "Pete.cwt.png", opened up the template, "saved as" "PeteResaved.cwt", closed the template, launched the start screen from the File Menu, and no dice - the graphic's not in the start screen.  During earlier troubleshooting I just saved instead of "save as" with no luck.

For the Pete.cwt when you save it after making the PNG keep the name as "Pete.cwt" not "PeteResaved.cwt" the template needs to stay the same name

I just tried it again, opening "Pete.cwt" and saving as "Pete.cwt".  It asked me if I want to overwrite, I said yes, and it saved.  Closed the template, opened the Start Screen, still no graphic.  ????

Maybe you have a minor problem with your install

So here's something interesting ... I just switched my Windows Explorer view to large icons ... and the template does have the graphic I made displayed.  Was the original post I linked to not about having the graphic appear in the Start Screen (after clicking the "New From Template" tab?  Did I misunderstand something?
 
Or is there some Windows setting that could be interfering with SONAR seeing the imbedded graphic???  Seems very strange ...
