• SONAR
  • No Pentagon in Platinum

It's listed As being available, both as a vsti and as a Dxi, but trying to insert either brings Sonar down.

It doesn't crash, but I just get the spinning blue ball which never stops. Sonar has to be killed via Task Manager.

Loading a project containing Pentagon prompts a "Missing Plugin" message.

There are multiple keys for Pentagon in the Registry

So any ideas how to get it back?

Thanks in advance.

The VST version of Pentagon was never bundled with SONAR; a 32bit VST was sold at one time. Pentagon does require SONAR be run as administrator or the registry permissions hacked. The synth is no longer bundled with SONAR.

Thanks Steve.

Strangely enough, I've just tried it on my other machine and it works as it should.

Must be a permissions problem surely?

Maybe, IIRC it would throw a "not properly installed" error in previous versions when permissions were not set correctly. Not sure what to expect when it fails in Platinum, the 64bit DX versions works for me in Platinum.

Are you sure about that?  The comparison chart on the cake website doesn't list it but the description for Platinum Instrument Collection in CCC lists it.

Since I have all the previous versions of the X series installed, it is on my PC. Not only is Pentagon missing from the comparison chart, there is no mention of it in the help file.

Yeah, I guess I got a bit confused when I saw it in the CCC.

I'm going to reinstall it from a previous version, buty I seem to remember doing this before and it's necessary to delete a certain registry key, Any ideas which one(s)?

As I said above, there are multiple entries all over the registry

I thought I'd have a play to see what happens. X3 Producer loads the DX version but Platinum sees it but won't load it, I get a pop up stating "Failed to load...".
I don't appear to have a VST version.

Grum.

Edit: I downloaded the "pack " that contains the synth from the Command Centre to get it to work in Platinum and the same thing happened.

To remove Pentagon from the registry at the cmd line type
regsvr32 /u "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\Pentagon I\P1DXi.dll"
May need to to run cmd.exe as administrator

Platinum sees it but won't load it, I get a pop up stating "Failed to load...".

Try running Platinum as administrator
