  • Are we done with Platinum only updates? (p.2)

The new upcoming load balancing feature is a platinum only exclusive. So we're not done with platinum only features.

That makes sense, given the plethora of Platinum plug-ins...it might be good to include that type of info in the Rolling Updates page, so people know which anticipated features are for which version.

BTW Noel a propos of nothing and since you're online...I'd love a preference in Mix Recall where upon opening a project, SONAR would automatically save a Mix Recall file with the date. It's gotten to the point where I do that almost reflexively every time I open a project. The more I use Mix Recall, the more I appreciate its value.

A pretty fair question given all the recent changes ampfixer. It is easy to forget the major differences that are alreay there though. The ProChannel EQ flyout with spectrum analysis, drum replacer and additional pro channel modules (eg breverb) are enough to warrant the investment in Platinum IMHO. The rest is cream:)

It seems that CW has been concentrating a lot lately on the core technology and enhancements, e.g. comping, plug-in balancing, and ripple editing.

I like the focus on core technology a lot!

Don't really need the add-on content much. When I feel the need to add more gadgets/options/toys, I rather shop around ...

I'm not looking for more stuff or complaining about the company.

That's definitely not the way I took it. With the changes going on at Cakewalk, there could be significance to fewer Platinum updates...or maybe not. It seems that CW has been concentrating a lot lately on the core technology and enhancements, e.g. comping, plug-in balancing, and ripple editing. Once those are done, maybe they'll turn their attention to updates for specific SONAR flavors and we'll have a run of "Platinum-only" stuff, but I don't know. To quote one of your more memorable posts, "Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future."

Frankly, I was surprised when the new phase-linear plug-ins weren't Platinum-only, but CW prefers to err on the side of generosity, even though they get complaints about doing so.

So true! Anyone remember the XLN pack really cheap last Dec. that was a pricing mistake? They honored it. So I retaliated and got Sonar4Life.

+1 Good thing to remember and a good contributing reason for getting Sonar4Life.

IT's funny that when I asked the question in my OP that some folks thought I was complaining. Monthly updates are almost more than I can keep up with. There's so much to learn for an old guy like me that the boundaries between different flavours of Sonar are fuzzy. It's not an issue right now but it will be one day once Cakewalk starts to release paid add-ons. It will be quite a little matrix. 3 flavours of Sonar, lifetime, annual and monthly purchase plans, core features, monthly updates and retail add-ons. And do the whole thing again for the Mac platform.

I can see how folks could get confused.

I already saw a significant improvement when it comes to core balancing in the latest update. If there are even more improvements coming, this upcoming release is going to be awesome!

Too Much stuff for me to figure out now... I just looked at the Breverb2 in the ProCh for the first time... I had some free time... Lots of other stuff that I know I have that I've never seen yet. :)
