Hello users... I've been experiencing issues with Input quantization- while real-time midi loop recording a drum pattern for example. The issue is that some of the recorded notes fail to play while loop recording, until I stop the recorded sequence then hit play again.The missing notes are usually in the middle of the sequence but can vary.The issue happens equally in X1 Producer & Studio. Interestingly...the problem doesn't happen in Music creator 6 or previous versions of Sonar & creator.If I reduce the Q strength from 100% to maybe 92-96% things improve greatly. If I use the midi quantization plug-in- it records as It should. I'm convinced this is a bug with input Q & had seen a similar complaint by another user.I contacted support which hasn't been very fruitful.They made some basic suggestions that didn't work.I contacted support only after trying numerous solutions that failed to work. I see in the forums that a lot of people step record & perhaps this is the reason it may not be any reports about this issue.Does anyone do real time midi recording in loop mode with the input quantization enabled to a 16th note? Can anyone verify or test that their input Q feature isn't buggy?I'm not convinced that the support guy has even tried the feature to see if there's an issue with the software itself. Thanks in advance to anyone that's willing to test.

 Sorry for the post being 1 big paragraph. That's not the way I typed it and tried to fix it several times, but this forum software seems buggy. It wouldn't post my original separated paragraphs even after editing it several times!

I presume you're using Firefox, as am I.  To get formatting you have to enter the html by hand, for example <br><br> to get a blank line between two paragraphs (thanks to scook for that tip).
 
Just copy the sequence and paste it every time you want to start a paragraph.
 
Or you can use chrome, Internet Explorer or an old version of firefox, like V5.
 

 Thanks for the tip. Funny thing is that I have no issues with other forums or my email separating paragraphs without inserting code. I'll just use Chrome when posting here. Another issue is that the preview feature doesn't work even though I can use preview on other sites.

Still on X1? Try setting the midi prepare buffer to a larger number, say 500ms. That's one of the reasons behind dropped notes generally.

Thanks. I already tried that as suggested by support. The thing is... when input Q is not enabled while recording- all notes play. When enabled, I have to stop after recording then hit play in order to hear all the notes play. This is only an issue for newly recorded notes. Using the midi quantize plugin works just fine. I can't understand why input quantize is behaving differently than the midi quantize plug-in? 

I've basically found a solution by changing the Q strength to 80 and the window to 95. This is the only thing that actually works consistently. I believe there is some sort of bug related to having the strength at default. It must be putting notes to far off the grid while recording. I guess this will simply remain an unsolved mystery since no one but me apparently uses this feature!?  

This is still a bug, and one that comes up for me when I use the Insert feature for MIDI Quantize. The same work-around applies as above, with a strength of 80 and a window of 95. I'm going to see if anyone at Cakewalk knows wtf this happens. :)

Still a bug in which version? I'm pretty sure the issue with dropped notes on looping recording with Input Quantizing was fixed last year some time or maybe even back in X3. Have you raised your MIDI Prepare Using buffer to 500ms as recommended earlier in this old thread?

The Input Quantization is working fine for me. This is a related bug in the INSERT EFFECTS > MIDI FX > CAKEWALK FX > Quantize (real time non destructive MIDI FX). I suspect it is somehow related to the ability (or lack thereof) of the program to do real-time Quantization, which is the reason I noticed the same bug in this thread about Input quantizing. Yes I increased my buffer to 500ms, and tried values higher than that as well. Same result. The only thing that seems to work is to adjust the strength and window settings in the MIDI FX Insert.

which version of sonar are you using ?
