Anyone?  The price just bounced down $500 and I'm tempted to pull the trigger.  For the record, I'm using a VS700.  If anyone has used both, your input would be invaluable.  I understand this may be better suited for the "Hardware" forum but I wanted to get this in front of as many folks as possible.  Thanks in advance.

hmmm, over here in Europe where they manufacture these things price is still the same, close 2K EUR ... that's unfair ...

anyway, decided to leave the semi-stable Roland drivers behind myself and almost went for the RME UFX, but then gave the MOTU 1248 AVB a test run before ordering the RME and never returned the MOTU. might be worth to consider - similar specs, same price category, better scalability if you need more I/O, otherwise very comparable ...

rme ufx here...have never looked back...was pretty xee here in Australia late last year but it really is a solid piece of hardware. Love the TotalMix software and regular driver updates. :-)

Sonar with RME Babyface for mobile recording and UFX in use here. The UFX is a great product. The drivers are the best Part of every RME product. Stable like a rock and the lowest latency i ever achieved. Works perfect with Sonar.

Cristal clear preamps! No colour, but they can easily compete with really expensive clear colourless preamps.

fireface 802 looks pretty cool. :-)

I love my RME. If I could find a UFX for $500, I'd buy one.

I'm pretty sure the OP said it was 500 down from the former price, not 500 total. 500 down would still make it roughly 1400/1500.
Great product though, I'm really happy with my UCX.

Hi. I have the "little brother", the Ucx. I am very pleased with it. No issues whatsoever. Super stable drivers.
I will never trade it, unless I need more inputs. Then I would upgrade to an Ufx, or 802
All the best.

Have been using a UFX with various releases of Sonar for a few years - now running Platinum.  Overall, very happy with the UFX.  As others have said, the drivers and firmware are regularly released and are of high quality.  Totalmix software is also quite good.  I did have some issues years ago with arming of tracks taking some time - but in a subsequent driver update, that issue doesn't exist.  Aside from that very minor issue - it's been absolute rock solid.

RME themselves also have a very thorough video set on TotalMix. A total of 10 videos on how to use it. Also, the last interface I bought before RME was an E-MU 1820, and the latency was vastly improved from the 1820. I have had my Multiface for 4 years. The only issue I had was that the PCI pins needed cleaning and would cause my computer to blue screen. I took an eraser to the pins, boom. Worked again.

I'm using a UFX after using an RME FF800 for years.

It's great. The preamps sound very good.

Be aware there are only four inputs with preamps, though. If you want more, you need outboard preamps of some variety. I've used 16 inputs at once by going through eight channels of an Allen & Heath 16:2 mixer and four channels of ADAT.

The only "problem" I can report is that the UFX driver doesn't seem to like switching back and forth between sampling rates. If you're working at 96 kHz and switch to 96 kHz, you may get some delays. I'm not even sure this has to do with the UFX, and I can't compare it to other makes because I've been using RME for quite a few years. So it's not much of a complaint.
