  • Creating Seemless CDs from SONAR

I am a brand new user to SONAR, in fact just studying and learning the software.  One thing that led me to go with SONAR was the included CD burning feature.   What I want to do, however, is create a single long file of a concert, for example, but add markers where I want tracks, and then burn a CD with those tracks.   I would also like to include the CD text on those tracks.  As far as I can tell, SONAR will not do that.   A knowledge base article suggested outputting the finished and mixed file in CD format, 44.1 kHz and 16 bits, and then editing with a program called pyro Audio Creator to add track markers and burn the CD.   That would be Ok for me, but, as far as I can tell, the Audio Creator program is no longer available.   Is this now a feature of  SONAR Platinum I missed, or is there some other way to do this?   Any advice is appreciated.   A book I bought suggests using software called CD Architect, just sold by Sony to a new company Majix.   However, that software does not seem to have this feature, and it is very expensive when I don't need the processing features.  Thanks for any advice.   Perhaps Cakewalk should also update that knowledge base article.

I think that you will have to get a specialized CD burning software for the features you are requesting.  Maybe there are some freeware/shareware ones that would work if you search for some.

Any suggestions for software that would do it?   As I noted, there is a knowledge base article from Cakewalk located at and dated 3/30/2016 that says it can be done using another Cakewalk product called Audio Creator.   I can find a page to such software on the Cakewalk website, but not in their store.   When I search for it several audio vendors have it listed as discontinued.   One review site said Audio Creator was replaced by a new program, but did not say what that is -- and I can find no indication.

Ironically, Adobe  Audition, which I have been using, has this capability.  Unfortunately, the version I have, however, CS 5.5, does not.   Audition is much less capable than SONAR.   Rather than update it, I decided to find a more capable DAW, and ended up with SONAR Platinum.  This seems like something anyone who does a lot of live events, like me, would want.   I want to create the feeling of a continuous live event on my CDs while still allowing people to jump to a given song or track if they want to.   That is why I need this capability.  I hope someone else is doing it and can recommend some options.   Thanks.

I have been using a program called CDBurnerXP - and despite the name it will work on Windows (https://cdburnerxp.se/en/home). It allows you to create CDs with no gap between tracks. It is free, and a pretty good program.

Hope that helps

One popular option is Sony CD Architect. Very capable, for a hundred bucks. Personally, even though I have CDA I usually use a generic CD/DVD burning program called Nero. Much cheaper - $30 - and can do exactly what you're describing, albeit with slightly more manual effort.

I have CD Architect and can vouch that it'll do what you're asking.  As Bit said, it's $100.
Have used Nero as well.  They are both capable of burning with CD text.

Use Wavelab now (LOT more expensive, but will do LOTS more stuff)...

I only ever use CD Architect for all my CD burning needs.

It's one very well written piece of software and amazingly flexible.

I use Nero "BurningROM" for all my audio CD burning.  Along with the Redbook burning and other features such as adding ISRC Codes, song titles, etc it is the only program I've found that will burn to multiple drives at the same time.

same here, Sony CD Architect. its got the red book standard, allows you to add tracks where you want them, has an editor, some plug in capability's, allows for fades, exc.. its great for when your master is complete.

+1 for Sony CD Architect.
I used to use it often, and it did exactly what you're asking for.  Now I upload my stuff to CDBaby, along with MP3 distribution.  They cover all that (for a fee, of course).
