Hi all,
 
I have a MIDI track containing expression swells (CC11) that are a little too loud at their biggest (if that makes sense) and I want to shave a few numbers off the whole thing so it's not quite so loud - is there a way to do this in Sonar Platinum?
 
For example the CC11 data currently goes from 90-127 and I want to change it to, for example, 70-110. Does that make sense?

Yes, Process -> Find/Change is one way to do it, and the one I've used forever and still (mostly) remember how to do.
It's a daunting dialog box but read the help manual on it, you get used to the layout, its a big filter system.
 
Select the clip you have with the controllers in it, then choose Process->Find/Change from the menu.
 
Select "None" on the first page to clear everything, then just tick "Control", select 11 as the number min and max, and for the example above 90 and 127 as the value min and max
 
Then press ok, and on the next screen leave the number 11's as is, but change the value min and max to 70 and 110.
 
Others might have some more modern ways of editing it!  Maybe along the lines of when in PRV, display the controller down the bottom, and make sure you have selected the clip.  Using the smart tool so it becomes the "move" symbol (arrows), or just the move tool, sliding up and down will adjust all the values with a fixed offset, e.g. -20 to approximate your example above. 

All of that CC data should be visible in your track. There are three ways to get to it directly:
 
1) Double-click the clip to open it in the PRV. The controller data should be visible in the controller pane at the bottom of the PRV window.
 
or
 
2) In the track, change the dropdown right under the track name to the automation envelope you want to edit.
 
or
 
3) In the "Clips" menu for the track, select the last option: Convert midi controllers to envelope. This will convert the CC data to a envelope in a separate lane for clarity.

Yes CDK ... easy and quick with the method below.
 
I have had 2 CAL scripts bound to hotkeys to do this kind of thing for any controller number, for more than a decade.
I most often use it for CC11, CC7, and CC1.

controlx.cal
(bound to CTRL+Q) tells me the exact value(s) of any controller that is highlighted.

C-NTROLR.CAL
(bound to SHFT+Q) allow me to add or subtract to the value of any controller by
numerical value or by percentage.
They both work on any single controller OR any range of controllers of the same type.

Example of best use:
I can select a CC11 expression swell (or crescendo / decrescendo) and change the value, (up or down) by any numerical value +1, -1 ... +6, -6 ... +30 -30 etc. or by any percentage.

As long as I don't expect the .cal to do the impossible like going above 127 or below 1
it works perfectly.

yes - simple 
1) ctrl+F1
or
2) Process Menu -> Run CAL Script
Choose the CAL script from the list 
 
BTW if you want more CAL scripts, do a quick google on "Sonar CAL scripts" and you will fund a bunch more resources
