I am all for Sonar exclusive plugins, but I HATE Pro Channel. I want one way of using VST's. I don't want to have to open Pro Channel to see if there are "hidden" VSTs. I don't want my console strips to double in size when I open Pro Channel. It frustrates me to no end to be forced to learn two ways of entering/editing VSTs. Please find another way to keep VSTs proprietary.

Absolute understandable.
But I think this thread is more about 3rd-party plug-ins where a VST version already exists, so you won't be forced to use the PC module.
For me, ProChannel is a welcomed addition.

Gotta agree about in app purchases. That stinks

I have always been a little confused about what PC modules really are. I find the interface more convenient than adding compression/eq, etc. on the track and having to bring up the GUI separately. For some reason I always thought they were somehow different than other vsts (which doesn't make a lot of sense when I think about it!). From what I am gathering in this thread they are really just vsts with a small enough GUI footprint (and therefore limited number of paramters) to fit into a console strip. Is that whole concept?  Could you have more complex PC modules than would present basic controls and fly-out to a standard GUI to access more parameters?

That's exactly it, Compact VST to fit a width restrictions. The Quad EQ has a fly out, so less common features can be changed from there, and you get use of the bigger eq display

Some come in PC fromat only -ReMatrix
Some come as both PC and standard VST - Breverb

So all XLN would need to do is make the GUI more compact, and add change some coding so that it's recognized as a ProChannel. It's already compact.

I've stated repeatedly that BOTH Cake and Vendors were missing HUGE opportunity...

It fell on deaf ears...as we are still here with almost the exact same number of
PC Modules as we had right after it's introduction...

A testament to Cakes market share I guess...

And the Soft tube selections is starting to feel a secret.
Mentioned here
http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/By-Category/ProChannel-Modules
which leads here
http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/Softube-Mix-Bundle
And their is a buy option

But if you go straight the the Store and choose ProCahannels and FX, nothng

Tiny mention once wading through Softube's site
http://www.softube.com/index.php?id=mix
which takes you to this page
http://www.softube.com/index.php?id=prochannel_modules

And through all that, I'm not even sure what the ProChannels look like that are cost $300

Don't crack have had that budle of 40 for $99. They clearly want more sales. If they did it again at $99 but it only came as a ProChannel, I would buy. But if I wanted both, then I I'd expect the PC version to come with the full VST.

These are all ideas, I doubt nothing will com of it

I've asked a couple of times in this thread about suggestions of other 3rd parties. The P&M ones simply look made for it,

I don't think that ProChannel will be going away anytime soon. However, I recently put forward a proposal in the Feature Requests forum that would address some of those issues:

I see NOTHING wrong with in-app purchases... that's been the Pro Channel way since day one... "I'm done"????  No one forces anyone to buy them.  I would love the option and it's a valuable revenue stream to support Cake's new business model.  I too dream of a money free future but Trek ain't here YET!

And if u "HATE" the PC, NO-ONE is forcing you to use it.  Most love it, me included...and my vst count outside of S4L is pushing a 1000... I routinely use PC as well as other plugs all the time.  Love the flexibility.

If such deals are in the works, I hope for both bundles and singles... personally I am saturated but might wanna selectively add.  Definitely a boon for new users...

If Cakewalk allows me to conveniently purchase products that are specifically designed for what I am doing, without forcing me, allowing me to decide what I want and just making it easy, well then I am done too. I simply can't believe the audacity an innovative company like Cakewalk has making my life easier. I vow on my word, if Cakewalk keeps doing awesome things by bringing me the tools I need and making it so easy to get them, I will walk away.

I hope my sarcasm is not lost, and no actual real malice is interpreted here. I'm just having a bit of fun is all.

Well I don't use the PC. I would like to use the channel strips provided etc but not at the expense of actually using the clunky PC.
BTW, I don't think you have any idea how many users "love" the PC, "hate" the PC, ignore the PC, or even don't know it exists.
