Trying out TH3 Cakewalk version and the input level section of the plugin asks that you set the input level in the green at max volume on your guitar using your interface input gain.  By doing this, I end up recording my direct signal at about -3db peak.  I typically record everything between -18db to -12db to maintain some headroom and not clip.  The other guitar plugins I've used have an internal gain to adjust optimal input within the plugin, so I've never run into this problem using them.  Anyone else experience this?  Is there a work around to set TH3 with optimal input to the plugin and still maintain headroom on the direct track?

I struggle with this, too - love to hear what others are doing to get levels right.

It also has an output control. Top right? Always set your input level first and then turn down the output control so the recorded track sits in the mix.

The Markbass 2 has no indication at all about input other than a clipping light. I'v enever played bass through a real head and cab, so I have no reverence for where I should be, and the interface doesn't allow me to consistently see the level I'm giving it.
