Nice to know I inspired a post

Honestly, what I probably need to do is examine all the features in the product.  I think sometimes I simply don't realize or know how to connect the dots with what tools I have and how to utilize them to get what I am trying to do!

Ha, that's great! I have tried to do that too, but I still haven't made it through the 1300 pages of documentation. I gotta tell ya, it's a great exercise every time I do it.

Having gone through the documentation way back when, I still have a habit of looking for the dedicated step record and the large panic button.

Good thoughts Craig...

I work with many DAWs over the years and have used 12Tones/cakewalk since the beginning... Long an engineer before computers...

...and no matter what tools I've had, situations arise that require "discovery". Using the most important tool, the mind, to find a way to get the job done with what you have!

...often leads to wonderful discoveries! ;-)

Is it possible this revolutionary concept might be applicable to other situations in life besides Sonar ?

I always assumed that being a set of tools was how most viewed SONAR now. Some work well, others not so much, and some are non-existent. As to multiple ways to achieve the same task, this forum is rife with suggestions for such. What seems to get lost in the shuffle is functionality that could be significantly improved on existing features, but these are often met with push back or tedious workarounds. Making something intuitive with attention to detail is a rare art.

I probably just barely scratch the surface of what Sonar can do.  Most of what I do is with "Analog" tracks, very seldom MIDI.   I'm not a fan of the Sonar manual, most of the time I'm just as confused or can't find the answer.
When I do want to do something that I don't know how, it seems its already been answered on the forum or I can come on here and get the answer.  But, I don't say "it can't be done", I ask "how" to do it.

I was In Networking and computer support (hardware help desk) until I retired.  Being on "the other side" of support and answering questions probably helps my attitude to getting assistance when needed.

That's entirely possible, but a lot of posts here are about how to accomplish a function, not how to accomplish an end result. So if the function doesn't exist, people assume they can't accomplish the end result. However, often the end result can indeed by accomplished by applying tools in different ways than originally intended.

BTW I agree that some tools could use a refresh to make them less opaque.

A great post - makes me think that your mind (cognitive) is a terrible thing to waste and/or feel that you always have to abide by the so called "rules".
