Here I am again guys asking for your help. I was exporting my project as MP3, and than when I hit export, I had this message: The Mp3 encoder must be unlocked before use. Please visit http://www.cakewalk.com to upgrade a previous encoder, or purchase a new encoder. Ok, now should I purchase a new one, or should I call them so they will unlock the encoder? I thank you already for your help.

I'm using Sonar 7 Producer Edition.

Or download a free one like Lame. Do a search on it if you need to

If you didn't purchase a license from cakewalk to unlock the mp3 encoder, it expires after 30 days. You need to purchase a license separately. Yes, we know most people think that its crazy to pay so much for a professional program and then have to pay for the mp3 encoder. Yes we know many people are indignant and think that its just wrong. Yes, what is Cakewalk thinking, other programs include it for free. And yes, you can use a third party encoder and incorporate it into the tools menu or use it standalone. Yes if you tried the search function in the forum you would find about 89.3 billion posts about this subject. If you did purchase a license and lost it, call or e-mail Cakewalk and they will help you out. If you didin't purchase a license, you can purchase one at the cakewalk store. But your best bet is to use a third party encoder and either put it in the Tools menu or export your projects as .wavs and convert outside Sonar. Good luck.

I believe the mp3 encoder was included in Pro Audio 9. If you own a copy of that you can use it to unlock the encoder in PE7.

How do you use Pro Audio 9 to unlock the encoder?

Didn't Sonar 3 Producer come with an mp3 encoder?

don't think the encoder was included with PE3 - someone please correct me if wrong.

I'm interested in the Pro Audio 9 trick. I wasn't aware of that one. If anyone knows how it's done, could you be kind and post it??
