FWIW I wouldn't be too concerned about the delay from the point of view of registering for lifetime updates. Cakewalk have looked after their customers for many years. If you have a receipt that shows your purchase date and you do have any issues due to the delay in supply, I am sure an email to Cakewalk would see it rectified.
I didn't realise a boxed edition of Sonar still existed, so I have learned something there. Most resellers seem to just send out a code now.
